CHAPTER 22

Connor POV:
I watch Callie walk over to Liam and I hear her yelling at him. I start to limp over there to break up the fight, but I was too late. I was about half way there when I see him
punch Callie. Naturally I punch him for hitting my sister, and of course we got into a fight. I got a few good hits on him before the coach came over and separated us. My eye was throbbing, but it was worth it.

The coach said he would not tolerate violence and that we were kicked off the team. I looked down to realize that Callie was still lying on the ground, Daniel by her side.

"Guys, I think we need to call 911," he says worried.

Seeing Daniel so worried about Callie makes me just realize how much he likes her. Not me. I cannot tell her Callie about liking him. I can get over him for Callie. Not to be self centered, but I just got beaten up, and now I see Daniel comforting Callie. Not the greatest feeling, but I come the Callie's attention.

Daniel's POV
I walk out of the bathroom to see Callie yelling at Liam. I don't know if I should go over there and intervene, I decide not to.

I should have intervened because a few seconds later I watch Callie get punched. I run as fast as I can to Callie. If it weren't for Connor I would have beaten up Liam.

I kneel down to see that her eyes are closed. I shake her.

"Callieeee," I say.

She doesn't respond. Coach was just telling Liam and Connor that they were kicked off the team when I tell someone to call 911. Emma is on the phone practically shaking from fear.

"What if she dies," Emma says, "We were in a fight, I don't want her to die thinking I'm mad at her."

"Emma, she won't die, she just got hit in the face and is unconscious," Connor says trying to comfort her.

I look up at Connor and see that he now has a black eye. Connor did the right thing. If I had a sister and I saw that someone punched her I would do the same thing he did.

Once Liam left I said, "Thanks for beating Liam up," I say.

"What was I supposed to do, let him get away with it?"

"If it weren't for you I would have beat him up."

He smiles, but then abruptly stops. Emma gets off the phone and she says the ambulance is on its way.

Connor gets in the ambulance with Callie, and calls his dad. My mom offers to drive Matt, Emma, and I to the hospital.

Once we arrived Connor informed us that she didn't need surgery, they just needed to bring her vitals back up with some IV fluids and she should wake up.

Mr. Wilson walks in scared as ever. Man he mist be going through a lot, Connor was in the hospital 2 months ago, and now this.

He walks up to me to see what room Callie is in. I direct him to his room, and decide to leave to give Mr. Wilson some time alone with his daughter.

Connor is sitting outside as well, I decide to sit down next to him.

"Hey," I say.

He must be deep in thought because I had to repeat myself before he realized I was there.

"Oh, hey. You can leave mow if you want," he offers.

"Nah, I'm gonna stay the night."

"Are you sure, you will have to stay in this chair the whole night."

"For Callie," I say.

"Man, you must really like her," I notice that he frowns and looks at the ground as he says this.

"Yeah I really do. I think I might love her,"

"Bro, really? You have only been dating for like a month!"

"I don't know, it's just that, when I saw her lying on the ground unconscious I got a weird feeling. Like if she died I don't know what I'd do with myself. I think I love her."

Butterflies fly through my stomach as I say that last part. That's when I realize that I love Callie.

Connor's POV

Daniel loves Callie. Callie probably loves Daniel. When I hear Daniel say "I think I love her," my heart shatters into a million pieces.
Today was horrible. I got beaten up, I got kicked off of the basketball team, my sister's in the hospital, and last but not least my heart got broken.
