I feel numb after the doctor calls time of death. I just stand there, no tears coming out of my eyes. I look at Connor's dead body.
Suddenly the beeping from the monitor started up again. He's alive. I can't believe it. I just witnessed my brother die and then come back to life.
"Nurses! Nurses! Come back he's breathing again!"
The nurses come rushing back in and start injecting needles into him. I watch from a distance as they work on my brother. My dad comes in the room confused on what's happening.
"What's going on?" my dad says worriedly.
I explain to him what happened. My dad grabs me into a hug.
"I can't believe you went through that. Without me there. You are really brave Callie."
"Thanks, dad," I say.
"Did you get to talk to him?"
"Yeah, he woke up."
"What did he say?"
I fill him on what we think may have happened.
"I have Liam as a student, he's a bad kid."
"What are we going to do about it?"
"Well, we would first need actual proof that he spiked Connor's drink."
"That' impossible dad ."
"Let's just focus on Connor getting better now."
"Yeah, I agree."
Later the doctor says that the incident may have occurred because of his Diffuse Axonal Injury. The doctor says that Connor will need to be in the hospital for at least a week, so they can observe him.
Later I decide to head home and take a well-deserved shower and nap. I text Emma, Matt, and Daniel all on a group chat about what's been going on. Daniel then texts me to see if I still want to go out this weekend and I tell him I do because right now I just need a distraction from Connor.
I decided to also tell Erica and Quinn about what happened. I do a group call to tell them what happened because they knew Connor personally and I thought it would just be better that way. It was soo hard telling them and they were devastated. Erica started crying, and I know Quinn didn't want to show it, but I could tell tears were coming out.
The next few days everyone was comforting me, especially Daniel. He would offer to do my homework so I can focus on Connor, he called me every night to see how I was doing, and for people who were wondering what happened to Connor, he would explain it to them because it was a little hard for me to explain.
