CHAPTER 18

Winters on its way, that means 3 things. 1) It's been almost 2 months since Connor's accident, and he's out of the hospital (he still has crutches). 2) Daniel and Matt start basketball. 3. CHRISTMAS IS COMING!

Connor and I are walking to lunch when Matt comes up to us saying, "Yo bro, did you know Connor's still joining basketball? He can't even play."

"Half-way through the season he should be able to play," I say.

"Oh sorry Callie, didn't realize you were there," Matt says.

"Connor's actually really good at basketball guys."

"Really?"

"Yeah, but I don't know anymore because of the accident."

"True, well it looks like he's recovering fast," Daniel says.

"Yeah, soon he will be off the crutches."

"Connor seems to like me, which is good," Daniel says.

"Yeah, I've never had an official boyfriend before, but one guy I liked in 5th grade he did not approve."

"Ahaha, does 5th grade even count?"

"Yes," I respond smiling.

He laugh at me.

"Awww, aren't you guys cute," Matt says.

We smile at him and then smile at each other. Daniel grabs my hand, and we walk down to lunch hand in hand.

Later that day I  hangout with Daniel.

"So when's your first game?" I ask.

"Not until January," He says while sitting on my bed.

"That's a long time. You guys need a whole month to practice?"

"Well you had pre-season for tennis."

"True."

"So, you wanna hang out over break?"

"I'd love to," I say smiling.

"Good," he smiles back.

We watch some Netflix together and had a really good time.

Connor's POV
Callie decides to invite Daniel over, which is fine. I'm getting over him. I never told Callie this, but I liked him before their first date. We have geometry together, and yeah I saw him on the first day of school and was attracted. But I have to keep telling myself that he's not gay. He like girls. He like my sister.

I get a text from my dad. He asks me to ask Callie what she and Daniel want from the Chinese take-out place. Apparently she's not answering her phone.

I walk into her room to see her and Daniel snuggled up watching Netflix. Great. I put a smile on my face and ask:

"Dad wants to know what you guys want from the Chinese place."

Callie looks over at Daniel.

"You wanna share some rice and pad thai?" Daniel asks.

"Sounds good," she says to Daniel. Then directing towards me she said "White rice and pad thai please."

"No problem," I say pretending not to be jealous.

I see them start the movie up again and I leave. He's not gay Connor. Daniel is NOT gay.

Callie's POV
When Connor came in to ask us what we wanted to eat he seemed off. Like he was smiling a lot. Maybe he's just happy that Daniel and I are doing so well.

Speaking of Daniel, we have officially been together for almost a month. I already told Daniel that I don't want to be that couple that celebrates every month. I just think that's a tad too much. Like maybe 6 months and a year, but definitely not a month.

After Daniel leaves I decide to text Erica because even though we said we would text everyday it fell through naturally.

Text convo between Callie and Emma

Callie: Hey! Sorry I haven't kept up with texting everyday, life's just been busy.

Erica: Its okay.

Callie: So what's new with you?

Erica: tbh I haven't rlly made a lot of friends.

Callie: That's fine. You prbly have very good friends then.

Erica: Not rlly...

Callie: Wdym?

Erica: Well there's like people im friendly with, but I dont rlly have a solid friend. And in the beginning I thought it was fine because it was the beginning of high school, but it's already December.

Callie: How come no one wants to be your friend? You're legit amazing.

Erica: Thanks Callie.

Callie: Maybe just try being more friendly.

Erica: I am friendly with a lot of people, just not friends.

Callie: Try hanging out with them outside of school.

Erica: I'll try.

Callie: Well i'm sorry that your life's been rough.

Erica: I really miss you Callie.

Callie: Me too. 

Erica: Like with you here life would have been soo much better.

Callie: Oh comon its not that baddd.

Erica: It is.

Callie: Well im always a face time away.

Erica: When your not hanging out with your boyfriend.

Callie: hahaha, you should meet him one day.

Erica: How? Im literally across the country.

Callie: Face time, duhhhhh.

Erica: hahah, oh yea.

Erica: I gtg, byeee.

Callie: Byeee, call me sometime!

Erica: I will.
