“Something coming back from the dead was almost always bad news. Movies taught me that. For every one Jesus you get a million zombies.”

Corner’s POV
Boom! Boom! Boom!
That was the sound of SPGs. Big mobile guns that have been sitting the middle of our Forward HQ.
Kresh! Kresh! Kresh!
That was the sound of splinter rounds exploding amongst hordes of Zombies.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
That was the sound of a sniper rifle that was coming from the centre of our base.
Takka takka! Takka takka! Takka takka!
Machine guns all over the perimeter of the base were firing non-stop, as the undead slowly advanced.
Dakka-dakka-dakka! Dakka-dakka-dakka!
That was the sound of assault rifles, Light Machine Guns, and Sub Machines Guns being shot into the oncoming enemy.
“Sir they won’t die!”
“Just keep shooting them,” I replied.
Buzzzzzzz!
I looked up by instinct, before ducking down behind the defensive wall.
KA-BOOM!
The Orbit-to-Surface Missile landed right in the middle of the undead army. It was the fifth missile launched in defence during the operation. No missiles had been launched for offensive purposes. Many tanks and other vehicles had been lost though.
Click click!
I loaded another magazine into my shotgun before pumping a round into the chamber.
Shick shick!
I took aim with my shotgun and blasted the closest zombie in the face. I quickly loaded another round into the breach when I realised that they weren’t slowing down.
“Fleet, I need fire support at HQ Alpha,” I shouted into the radio, “And having that support now would be nice.”
“I am sorry Major Darwin,” stated the all too familiar voice of the Freedom Fighter’s AI, Cortina, “But Blaze has ordered that we cease all orbital operations until such time as he deems safe.”
“Damn it Cortina,” I replied, before blowing the head off another zombie, “We have a situation at the Forward HQ.”
‘What kind of situation?”
“Code Zulu,” I said, before hastily putting a round into a tangle of Zombies, “I repeat again, we have a Code Zulu at Alpha HQ.”
“Are the missiles not sufficient?” asked Cortina.
“The missiles are doing fine,” I stated, “But there are more zombies than there is of my men.”
“Verifying new orders,” Cortina replied, “Colonel Darkrunner has told me to allow support of any sieged troops on the surface.”
“Thank you Cortina,” I said, “Try and get those rounds in as close as you can to the perimeter as you can without wiping the defences out, then walk the barrage back and forwards in a twenty metre distances from the perimeter.”
