Lauren's POV
"Lauren, are you ok? What happened?" Alyssa asked me.
"So I just got back from Angie's and the wicked witch of the west and I got in another argument," I told her looking at the window.
"Are you ok? Do you want to talk about it?" she asked me.
"I don't know," I tell her. It's not that I don't want to tell her, it's just that it just happened and it happened so fast that I don't know if I've fully processed what just happened.
"C'mon Laur. I don't want to force it out of you, but I think you'll feel better if you let it out. I'm here for you," she said. She's right. So I take a deep breath and I speak.
"So when I got home, she was waiting for me. And she made a snarky comment, saying how she's surprised that I made it on time. I got annoyed and I gave her attitude," I started off.
"Ok, go on," she said. She then turned left with the steering wheel.
"She then told me that I should show respect to her," I said and she laughed.
"Oh my god! Has that woman gone more insane? She's crazy if she thinks you'll ever show her respect," she said. This is why I love her, she gets me.
"Exactly, anyway I told her that is never going to happen. I told her that I would never show respect to someone who brought me into their home to be a maid! And then the argument continued on with her calling me ungrateful and a brat," I said and she gripped the steering wheel.
"Oh my god! That bitch is the ungrateful one! Oh my god! What the fuck is wrong with her?" she asked. I have no idea.
"The yelling continued and she tried slapping me, but I blocked it. Then she tried a second time," I said. And Alyssa gripped the steering more than I thought was possible.
"And what happened?" she asked a bit angry from what I'm telling her about the bitch I live with.
"She um....didn't miss that time," I whispered. Alyssa then pulled over and then that's when I realized I was starting tear up. Aw fuck.
"Lauren. Sh-she hit you?" she asked me. And I nodded. "Come here." She took off her seat belt and opened her arms. I took off my seat belt and hugged her. And my tears started to stream.
"Ugh, w-why am I crying? Ugh! That stupid bitch shouldn't affect me! God, why am I crying?" I cried out. Alyssa started to rub my back.
"It's ok, Laur. It's ok to let your feelings out. You always keep them so bottled up that it's time to let them out," she said to me in a soothing tone.
"I know, but I can't let her win. Me crying for that witch is showing weakness! I can't show her I'm weak!" I said.
"Lauren, you are not weak. You are one of the strongest people I know. You've been through a lot. And you don't let it faze you, heck you deal with that bitch all the time and you don't let it faze you. Lauren, this isn't showing weakness, this is reminding you that you are still human and you have feelings. Ok, just let it out," she said. Why is she the best?
"Thanks, Alyssa. I needed that," I told her.
"You're welcome, that's what friends are for," she responded.
"Anyway, what do you want to do?" I asked her.
"Let's go get ice cream, I think you need some," she suggested and I laughed a little.
"Yeah, I like that idea," I told her and she started the car and drove to an ice cream parlor.

Once we got there we ordered our ice creams. I got the flavor birthday cake and she got plain old vanilla.

"Ok, I agree with you that vanilla is a good flavor, but there were so many delicious flavors to choose from and you decided to go with vanilla?" I asked her. I know vanilla is her favorite, but that's so plain. I like vanilla too, but I wouldn't call it my favorite.
"Correction, it's french vanilla, get it right. And you know I'm plain and basic and love vanilla," she said and then she licked her ice cream. And I just laughed.
"You're so weird," I told her and then I licked my ice cream.
"And so are you, but isn't that what makes us good friends?" she asked.
"True," I replied to her and she smiled. "This is nice, we don't really get to hang out just you and me."
"That's true when we hang out either Taylor or Angela is there or both," she said.
"Mhm. Anyway, what now?" I asked.
"Um, do you wanna go hang out at the park?" she asked me and I nodded.

We then walked to the park nearby and found an empty table and sat down. And we just talked about random stuff and ate our ice creams.
