Chapter 22: The Announcement

Minerva Agustin:

I had just finished making dinner and it was around five in the evening. Emmy and I were having an amazing time cooking together. Although I asked her that I can cook alone but she insisted.

She's very stubborn.

When we reached the capital, it was very tough for us to live here considering we don't have any relatives in Stirington. But the shepherd had kept a lot of coins and food for us in bags which he tied on the horses' back. In the bags was a note from Theo.

You might need it in the future.

I sighed. He had already helped us a lot and I just don't want him to get in trouble.

When we reached the capital, we booked two rooms in an inn. Where we paid eight coins per night. Which was reasonable. Theo had sent us two hundred.

But off course they might finish one day and we couldn't completely depend on Theo sending us coins so Caleb decided to look for a job. He is trying but didn't find any yet. Though it's been only two days since our arrival in the capital.

I sat at the windowsill and breathed in the fresh air. It felt nice. For some reason, this all felt right.

I wish my parents were here too.

My heart constricted at the thought of my parents. It had been so long since I've seen them. But I know that once all of this is over I will get to see them again. I smiled at that thought.

Caleb came in my view and I waved at him and he did too. I walked out of the room and Emmy followed. We went up to Caleb with hopeful eyes.

"So How was it." Emmy asked him. He gave us a smile. "So... when I was coming back disappointed that I didn't get a job anywhere, I found this aged woman who seemed pretty wealthy and had a problem with her vision and requested me to read her the letter she received from her friend. When I did so, she asked me to tutor her two children every day. For which she'll give me twelve coins everyday."

Me and Emmy squealed with excitement and hugged Caleb and he almost fell and chuckled, hugging us back.

"So when will you start?" I asked.

"Actually I did today. And I got my first payment and I'm here to take you both out to celebrate. Go and change!" He said enthusiastically.

"But we made dinner." Emmy softly said.

"Oh we'll just eat light snacks. Hurry up girls, don't spoil the mood!" He whined. Emmy and I rushed inside to change.

I wore a knee length, beige coloured dress with full sleeves. Let my hair down. Whereas Emmy tied her hair into a braid and wore a white floral dress.
