Minerva Agustin:

The terrorised screams and shouts of the villagers could be heard clearly. Everyone was frantically running here and there, trying to hide, dragging their children with them to safety.

I was confused. I looked around for any potential danger, to find none.

What is going on?

I felt a hand hold my arm and pull me away, I looked up to see my brother.

"What's going on Caleb? Why are people-

"We must run back home Minerva! They're here!"

"Who?!"

"The barbarians!" He answered petrified.

Fear took over me as I forced my feet to run faster than their capacity. I looked behind me to catch a glimpse of the view to see...

Why are barbarians in Mayana army's uniforms? Wait... They are not barbarians! They are Mayana's soldiers!

"Why are Mayana's soldiers here! How did they even enter Roxanville?!" I asked my brother while we both kept running towards our home.

"Mayana soldiers? I thought they were...Oh sh*t! Oh sh*t! Oh sh*t!" He cussed.

"Can anyone tell me, WHAT IS GOING ON?!"
I shouted to my brother.

We reached home, knocked at the door like our tails was set on fire. Mother opened, we rushed in and closed the door, securing the locks.

"Is everything alright?" Asked my mother worried and completely unaware of the situation.

"Mayana's soldiers. In the market." Caleb said trying to catch his breath.

Her worried expression changed into a frightened one. She called out for our father and told him everything. I looked at my brother, wanting answers.

"Listen to me my flower, if the barbarians enter the kingdom, they only walk around the villages to look for little children to hold as slaves and young maidens to sell off. But if the soldiers enter like this it means they are exclusively sent by the king." My father explained.

"What do we have that the king wants?"
I asked.

"Whatever it is you must go and hide. Caleb go with her. Both of you can hide in the basement."

At that my brother practically dragged me towards the basement door as I was unable to move my limbs myself. As if my body refused to move due to the shock.

I've heard stories about the Mayana soldiers. If anyone dares to interfere in their work, they kill them!

We closed the basement door above us. Then we heard a loud knock on the door.

They're here!

They were banging on the door so loud that I feared the door will break.

"Just a moment!" My father tried to sound as calm as possible but I could hear the fear in his voice.

He opened the door and they barged in as if they owned the place. I could see this all from a crack in the door. Thankfully there was dark in the basement so they couldn't see us.

Who even allowed them to enter into people's houses just like that?

"How many family members are there Mr. Agustin?" I heard a husky voice.

They know father's name?!

"O-only me and my wife sir."

"Do you have any children?" He said. I could hear a smirk on his face as if he was enjoying all of this.
