"I want ice cream," Lucas collapses on to the couch dramatically. "If I don't get ice cream right now, there is a very high possibility that I could die."
"How can you die from lack of ice cream?" I muse. "Isn't it the other way around? Too much ice cream can definitely do some damage."
"Don't speak about the creamy goodness like that! I can't even look at such a monstrous being!" Lucas gasps as he pulls the draw strings on his red hoodie quickly so the hood scrunchies together hiding his face, except for his nose which protrudes out of the small hole.
"Stop that," I giggle while pinching his freckled nose with my fingers causing him to jump.
"Just make Liv hurry up, please," he begs. On cue, she comes thumping down the stairs.
"No need to cry, Lukey Pookey," She taunts. No wonder it took her forever to get ready. She looks absolutely gorgeous. Her blonde shoulder length hair is perfectly straight as usual and half of it is pulled into a small bun on the top of her head. Her makeup is done to perfection from her thin black eye liner to her cherry red lips. She's wearing dark wash skinny jeans paired with a white crop top.
"Don't call me that," Lucas crosses his arms grumpily.
"You look so cute," I gush making her smile.
"Not as cute as you," she winks jokingly. I laugh looking down at my own outfit. I had slipped into a flowered sundress this morning and thrown my jean jacket on over it.
"We get it, you both look lovely," Lucas groans. "Can we go now?"
The drive to the ice cream store was painful due to the fact that Lucas complained the entire time. It wasn't however, as painful as waiting in the long line to get our tasty treat.
"We could have avoided waiting is someone didn't take so long," Lucas taps his chin. "I wonder who that could of been."
"You're getting your damn ice cream," Olivia says through clenched teeth. "Stop acting like a baby."
"That's an insult to babies," I pipe in.
"Kayla, hush," Lucas squishes my cheeks together.
"I only speak the truth," I murmur through my squished lips.
"That's an new look," I swing around to see the familiar face of a young boy.
"Leo?" I blush madly, embarrassed of how merely seconds ago my face looked like it belonged to a goldfish. Maybe he has a thing for aquatic pets?
"I was wondering when I was going to run into again," he smiles offering me his hand. "I told you I'd give you a reign check. I don't want to miss out." I giggle and shake his soft hand. For some reason his touch makes my stomach do a flip.
"I see you've ditched the cast," I gesture to his leg.
"Thankfully I did. I had surgery on it and I'm grateful for my record breaking speedy recovery," Leo jokes he turns toward Lucas. "So this must be your boyfriend?"
"Oh, God no," I laugh. "This is Olivia and Lucas, my two best friends."
"I'm hurt," Lucas gasps dramatically clutching his wounded heart. "The sting of rejection."
"I'm Leo," he chuckles. "I met Kayla the other day when she heroically held the elevator for me. She was quite the knight in shining armour."
"It's very nice to meet you," Olivia can't even hide her excitement. I know she is exploding on the inside. She gives me a look as if saying 'so this is the extremely cute guy you were all giddy over the other day.' She simply stands there smiling like the Cheshire Cat with her eyes lit up. I know she is resisting the urge to whip out her heart shaped bow and play Cupid.
