"I hate school."

"Lucas, everyone hates school," Olivia takes a bite of her sandwich.

"Yeah, but I really hate school."

"No, you just hate Mr. Smith because he's making you write a term paper on Residential schools," I tell him.

"I can't write," he whines.

"Oh Lucas, you can do it if you put your mind to it," Olivia dismisses his complaining. "I had to write the same paper last semester. There are so many books on the topic it will pretty much write itself."

"I hate reading though," he groans once again.

"What is he complaining about now?" Jeremy sits down at our lunch table followed by Henry and Daniel.

"The usual," I tell them.

"Oh, so school I'm guessing?" Jeremy laughs.

"I don't complain that much!" Lucas crosses his arms grumpily. We at turn to stare at him in unison. "What?"

"Dude, you complain more than my little sister when she's on her period," Daniel informs him.

What is with guys always assuming a girl is on her period if she's mad? Perhaps she's just complaining because boys are infuriating half the time.

"That didn't take long," Jeremy speaks up. At first we are all very confused by his comment until we follow his gaze to the cafeteria doors. Lydia strolls in with her designer purse on one arm and Cole looped around the other.

The cafeteria's usual buzz slows to a hum. Everyone is whispering to each other in shock. I'm not sure if people are more surprised to see Cole's reappearance or the fact that they are the newest couple at Parkview High.

"We all seen that one coming," Henry sighs.

When the two of them pass by our table, Lydia can't let the opportunity slip by to wave at Olivia. I feel like getting up and slapping her her makeup caked face, but Olivia puts on her sweetest smile waving back.

Kill them with kindness.

That's probably better than what I had in mind. I tear my eyes off of them and back to Henry who's arm is draped over the back of my chair.

"Are you going to Lucas' house after school? Milo has been begging for Lucas to hang out with him."

"I have to go home first, but then I can meet up," I tell him.

"My brother acts like I don't live in the same house with him. I see him every night, yet somehow that's not enough," Lucas grumbles.

"Maybe it's because he loves you and looks up to you?" Olivia points out.

"I swear that's not it. The little shit is always telling my mom everything I do and then I get in trouble for it. I think he wants to hang out with me so he can have more evidence to tell my mom."

"What does he tell your mom?" Jeremy asks.

"Everything!" He begins mimicking Milo. "Mom! Lucas locked me in the bathroom. Mom! Lucas tried to throw my hamster down the stair in it's stupid plastic ball! Mom! Lucas tried to climb out his bedroom window to see a girl! Mom! Lucas tried to rip my nipple off! Mom! Mom! Lucas looked at me funny! Lucas did this! Mom! Lucas did that! Mom!"

We all burst out laughing at his horrendous impersonation.

"All that sounds like to me is you like to torture your brother and do a lot of dumb shit," Daniel cackles.
