"Morning sleepyhead," a hand gently caresses my forehead. "It's almost lunch time. You should probably get up." I open my eyes a crack to see Kate hovering over me through my blurred vision.

"I guess you're right," I yawn and stretch my arms up to the ceiling. When I got home yesterday I ran up to my room without a word to anyone. I had curled up in my bed and laid there for hours. My brain could not stop thinking of the events of last night. It kept replaying in my head like a scratched CD that gets stuck on a scene. I nearly slept away half of my day trying to get caught up on my rest. Somehow I'm still exhausted.

"Did you have a good time last night? I didn't even realize you came home."

"Yeah, it was great," I tell her with a bit too much enthusiasm. She raises a quizzical brow wondering if there is more to the story. I watch as she decides if she should press the matter. After a moment Kate shakes her head wiping away her thoughts. I'm thankful when I realize she is dropping the subject and letting my lie slip by.

"I'm glad, honey," Kate offers me a weak smile. "Do you have any plans for today?"

"I'm not sure yet. I might hang out with my friends later. I'll probably just relax for a bit right now if that's okay. I'm still kind of tired," I feel drained from yesterday. I'm a whirlpool of emotions and I feel like I'm drowning in them. The thought of facing the day is overwhelming.

"John doesn't like it when people waste away their day in bed. He usually gets annoyed when I have a lazy day. He says we should use our time to be productive."

"Please, it's only one day," I roll my eyes.

"I guess I could talk to him if he mentions it. He's working in his office right now," Kate hesitates. "As long as you go out with friends or do some homework later tonight."

"Yeah, I will," I agree. It sounds like that is the best deal I'm going to get. Eventually Kate decides to leave my room allowing me to fall back into dreamland.

"Get your lazy ass out of bed!" I'm smacked in the face with a pillow causing me to jump up with a jolt. Olivia hovers over me with her arms crossed.

"I'm tired," I whine. "I want to go back to sleep."

"It's six o'clock. You've been sleeping all day and ignoring my texts," she grumbles. I quickly grab my phone off my nightstand. She wasn't lying about the time. It felt like I had barely fallen asleep before she came in.

"I'm not getting up. I feel like I'm dying," I state firmly.

"Are you sick?" Liv questions.

"No."

"Are you bleeding to death?"

"What? No."

"Okay so you're completely fine," she rips my blankets off my body exposing it to the chill of the cold draft in my room. "Get up!"

"I'm sad," I give her my best puppy dog eyes.

"I'm craving McDonalds, but sometimes we have to suck it up. Being sad is no excuse to lie in bed like a giant slug," Liv jumps up on my bed standing over me and proceeds to kick me with her feet off my bed until I fall face first onto the floor.

"Ouch," I cry out.

"I know Leo is the world's biggest-"

"Watch your language," I cut her off.

"-slimeball," she finishes changing her choice of words. I'd prefer if Kate didn't have the opportunity to hear her foul mouth. "But don't let him ruin your life. He's not worth it. You got blindsided by Leo. At least now you know the truth before you guys got too involved. Also, it doesn't matter who killed your dad, because he's still gone no matter who did it. Nothing has changed. The only thing that changed is your attitude about the situation and that's something only you can control."
