Are you that happy?
"You okay?" Chan made his way from the door to where Jeongin was sat, the room was dark enough that Chan didn't realise how much Jeongin's blush darkened with each step that took Chan closer to him.
"Please Chan, sit down." Dr Hyo gestured kindly to the chair next to Jeongin.
"We were just talking about what's best for your bond moving forwards."
"Oh?" Chan replied, unconsciously moving slightly closer to Jeongin, and he was the only one who didn't notice it happen.
He didn't notice the small smile that graced Dr Hyos face at the sight and Chan didn't notice how utterly beetroot red Jeongin was, and how far he had hidden inside the hoodie to try and calm himself down.
"I think it's best if you become closer again. The distance and lack of communication, along with the ghost bond shared with Minho, put lots of strain on the bond. It may have started to weaken-"
Both the boys faces went slack and Dr Hyo was quick to explain that nothing was wrong with the bond, for now, but that the slight fraying might, over time, become more severe and the things like that of what happened to Jeongin would happen again, and more often.
It was only at the end of the conversation, as they were both making their way out of the office for hopefully the last time that day that the boys realised how tightly their hands were intertwined and how close together they were stood.
Out of sheer awkwardness, Chan quickly took a small step back and Jeongin let their hands fall back to their respective sides.
They walked side by side down a few corridors, the distance between them killing Chan more than anything ever had.
It got to the point where he finally couldn't take it any more. Chan reached out and grabbed Jeongin's forearm and spun him round.
Jeongin gazed up at Chan questioningly and every single word went completely out of his head, at Jeongin, his Jeongin, stood there, looking at Chan with hope in his eyes rather than pain, fingers curled up inside the sleeve of Chan's hoodie, his heart ached to just make everything how it was before again.
Before he knew it was happening his body compelled him to blurt out the words.
"I love you." They were the easiest words to say, always on the tip of the tongue.
"I love you too."
An abruptly cut off ear-splitting squeal pierced the air and echoed down the corridor. Chan looked to his right to see Minho standing there practically buzzing with excitement with Woojin's hand pressed firmly over Minho's lips.
Woojin smiled apologetically but Minho was already off, sprinting towards Chan and Jeongin, arranging their hands and faces with an unnecessary level of detail, "I shall create the most artfully constructed Jeongchan photo that has ever been seen to properly celebrate this most beautiful of occasions!"
Eventually it was perfect and Minho stepped back to take the photos on his phone.
"Don't look at the camera! Look at each otherrr!" Minho kept yelling directions but both of the boys just stopped listening, content to just stand in each other's arms again.
"Jeongin?" Chan mumbled after a couple of seconds of their photo shoot.
"Mm?" Was the muffled reply as Jeongin leant his face into Chan's chest.
"You want you go out with me again?" This time Chan noticed as the tips of Jeongin's ears went pink.
Jeongin just nodded into Chan's chest, tightening his grip around Chan's waist.
Chan unwrapped one of his arms from around Jeongin and moved it towards his chin. He titled Jeongin's face up towards his own, and, this time, as Jeongin simply breathed in the calm of being near Chan again, the flush didn't return to his ears or his cheeks and he looked straight back into Chan's eyes without discomfort or reservation.
Woojin forced Minho's hand and his camera down and practically dragged him away down the corridor.
Not without lots of whining and grumping and sitting on the floor and being so difficult Woojin in the end just picked Minho up and carried him over his shoulder, not that Minho was particularly light or that Woojin was particularly strong, just that Woojin knew they needed their privacy and Minho's photography-loving self wouldn't have left them alone until he had the perfect shot.
"I'll send you the photos laterrrrrrrr~" was all Minho could manage to call as he waved at Chan and Jeongin from his position on Woojin's shoulder who was making quick work of the long corridor to the main room.
Chan, very elaborately, moved his face closer and closer to Jeongin's, hiding his smile at the tension the ran through Jeongin's body at the suspense, very slowly he moved his mouth towards Jeongin's, and then, he swiftly completely changed direction and gave Jeongin a very messy kiss on the forehead.
He admired the utter betrayal and confusion on Jeongin's face before realising it had turned to rage and, with a laugh the brightest it had been in months, he sprinted off down the corridor after Woojin and Minho, with Jeongin, laughing his head off and somehow still trying to look angry, hot on his tail.
Eventually Jeongin had him cornered against the table the group was sat at - bathing in his supposed victory, Jeongin stopped pressing the offence, Chan took his chances and dashed past Jeongin to the main hospital doors.
He stopped a couple of metres into the outside, Jeongin glaring at him from the doorway.
"No fair! You know I can't go outside!"
Chan just laughed, and, after a little bit Jeongin smiled too. But it was a mischievous smile, as if he knew something Chan didn't.
By the time he turned round it was too late, the car was already right behind him there was no escaping it.
Chan just stood there and accepted his punishment.
The puddle by the pavement was deep, after all the rain of the day, it was too dark and the car was going too fast for it to slow down and completely avoid the dark expanse of the water behind Chan.
And, sure enough, he was soaked, completely, head to toe, to the skin - the bone even, with dirty pavement water.
Jeongin cackled to the point of tears as Chan stood there, dripping and beginning to realise how cold it was outside.
And he was only in a, as of just now, very, very sodden t-shirt.
Before Jeongin knew what had hit him Chan was upon him, water and all, running into the hospital and accidentally pulling Jeongin to the floor with him as he slipped on the smooth tiled floor.
Water went everywhere and Jeongin couldn't even bear to stand up from laughing. Chan tried to feel miserable about it, about being wet and completely embarrassing himself in front of the entire hospital, but, just looking at his and Jeongin's intertwined hands, he couldn't do anything but smile.
Smile like the world was ending and someone had just found the last chocolate bar in existence, ever.
