- 37 - Breakfast -

You'll just start a new love again

Jeongin awoke to the soft hums coming from behind him, Chan traced patterns up the younger boy's side as the melody fell from his lips. The elder seemed almost preoccupied, staring at a spot on the wall that looked particularly insignificant. His hair was still messed up from the odd angle at which he'd been sleeping and Jeongin almost cooed at the way his pyjama sleeves covered his entire face when he rubbed his nose tiredly. It was almost domestic. Some would say it was very domestic indeed.

The younger boy reached up to squeeze Chan's hand gently, smiling slightly when the older boy's eyes slid to him. The humming continued, the notes lifted up and over one another, flooding the room with an irreplaceable light. 

"Up and at 'em, lovebirds," there was a hammering on the bedroom door, followed by another yell, "I made breakfast, so get up." With that, Minho's footsteps could be heard padding down the hallway. Jeongin blinked slightly.

Chan laughed, the sound a little lower than usual owing to the fact that he was lying down, "Minho hates mornings, but he loves food, it's an astonishingly versatile combination." His hand drifted to Jeongin's cheek, gently pinching beside his ear. Jeongin hadn't even processed what Chan had said before the blush crept onto his face and he smacked the elder boy's hand away. It was too early for the word 'versatile' and far too early for cheek pinching.

"You heard your best friend, there's food, hyung, get up." With those words of encouragement, Jeongin proceeded into hypocrisy and made absolutely no attempt to get up. Of course, he blamed this on the fact that Chan was radiating Care Bear energy. Who in their right mind would miss the opportunity for some Care Bear love?

The moment was ruined when Felix barged into the room, "Minho says that if you don't get up right now then you won't get any breakfast and he won't talk to you for a week," he recounted, looking very proud of himself. He then removed the duvet, regardless of the groans directed towards him and waited with folded arms until the two finally decided to heed his words.

"Min," Chan huffed slightly, as he saw what awaited them on the table, "Getting McDonald's from Deliveroo does not count as making breakfast. We've discussed this." Jeongin almost snorted at the interaction, but he wanted his breakfast thank you very much and Chan's mainstream views on what could be classified as a breakfast food were not helping him in the slightest.

"French fries and hash browns are essentially the same thing, hyung." 

"But they aren't the same thing, are they, Jeongin? They have different names for a reason."

"Are you suggesting that Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is not the same thing as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone?" His tone was one of incredulity.

"Baby, you know that's not what I meant." A whine began to creep into Chan's pronunciation. Jeongin raised his eyebrows. "Fine. I concede. Hash browns and French fries are essentially the same thing and my views on breakfast foods are conceited."

"I never said that!"

"It was most certainly implied."

"As much as I love you both," a slight drawl interrupted, "And as much as I'm adoring this cute little show of affection, I'm hungry, so could we all shut up and eat? Thank you." Minho settled back in his chair and placed a chicken nugget into his mouth. Jeongin thought that the older boy would have moaned if they hadn't been in the same vicinity as him.

And so that was how they spent the morning, eating junk food and calling it breakfast. Wearing mismatched pyjamas around a very wobbly table. Sharing laughter and joy as a family.

"Congratulations, by the way," Felix mumbled at one point.

"On what?"

"Finally realising that you're both whipped." 

Let's just say Felix didn't get anymore bacon after that.
