Chapter 7

It was a day before the battle. Shirou stood outside staring at the stars "They are beautiful are they not?" Shirou turns to see Ruler coming out of the mansion gates "Yeah they are." He says "I admire your will. It is a wonder you survived a Holy Grail War." Ruler said and Shirou chuckled "Technically speaking the war never ended. Our Saber destroyed the Holy Grail. If she hadn't had done it we all would've been dead. As to how I survived." Shirou's voice trailed off and then his mind lit up with an idea "Ruler." Shirou turns to her and she tilts her head "What is it?" "With your permission. I'd like to summon a Servant of my own." He asked and Ruler's eyes widen "Are you positive about this?" She asked and Shirou nodded "I have the catalyst right here inside of me." Shirou placed his hand on his chest referring to the scabbard of Excalibur that his father implanted in him to protect him and allow him to use magecraft "What?" Ruler said and looked closer "The scabbard of the Sword of Victory Excalibur. Avalon." Ruler whispered and nodded "I'll allow it." Shirou bowed in gratitude "Thank you."

Everyone gathered around, Luvia and Caules were drawing the magic circle in the ground "Are you nervous?" Sieg asked "A little. Last time I summoned her sort of by accident. I didn't even do the incantation. So this'll be a first." Shirou said and the two stepped back "It's all set." Luvia said "Thank you. Both of you." Shirou said and looked down "You a bit jealous there'll be another Saber?" Sisigou said to Mordred and she chuckled "Jealous? I'm the king of knights for crying out loud." She responded and Shirou gave a smirk "Alright. Shirou Emiya. Do you wish to take part in this Great Holy Grail War? Upon this agreement, I, Jeanne d'Arc will grant you the ability to summon a Servant to fight for you in this war." Ruler said to Shirou and he nodded "Of course." Ruler nods "Then I hereby give you my blessing as a Ruler." With those words Shirou shined with a dim light that faded "Alright here it goes." He said and materializes a small knife, he cuts his hand a little so that blood can trickle out. The blood runs down his hand and Shirou holds his hand over the magic circle.
Heed my words
My will creates your body
Your sword carves my destiny
The magic circle glowed with an eerie light as Shirou spoke the words Rin used to contract Saber before.
If you heed the Grail's call, and obey my will and reason then answer me!
Do so and I will entrust my destiny to your sword!
Familiar Command Spells began to trace into Shirou's head, the glow from the circle intensified
I call to you hero from the past
Take up your sword in this fight for the Holy Grail
Come forth, King of Knights!
"What did you say?" Mordred growled
Serve me in my goal to attain the Grail and to achieve victory above all
I summon thee. Saber!"
The words flowed out of his mouth, he was no longer in control of what he said. The magic circle shined and Mordred growled "It can't be! It's impossible!" She yelled and the magic circle exploded with magical energy. Shirou took a step back from the shockwave and regained his balance, in the middle of the magic circle stood a familiar knigh, her blue dress wrinkled as she kneeled, her armor shined in the light of the moon "It's been awhile. Shirou." She looked up and said with glee "Long time no see. Saber." "Of course. Artoria Pendragon, the King of Knights." Ruler examined Saber "Shirou what is going on?" Saber said and her eyes locked with Mordred, the temperature in the area seemed to increase "Mordred?" Saber said with surprise "Father." Mordred snickered "Oh so that's your old man?" Mordred's master chimed in "Wait you're Saber's son? Or uhhh daughter?" Shirou said as his thoughts became jumbled "Why are you here father?" Mordred's voice was filled with anger "Same reason as you are Mordred. I am glad to see that you have become a Servant." "Quiet! I don't need your sympathy!" "Sympathy I don't believe I-" "Shut up!" "Alright Saber calm down." Sisigou said and turned to Saber "Sorry. I've heard a lot about you King Arthur but I never knew that you were a woman." He said and scratched his beard "Her true identity was hidden to the general public so that she could rule as King. Her true name is Artoria Pendragon but history knows her as King Arthur." Ruler says "Shirou. What is going on?" Saber turns to Shirou as he nervously rubs the back of his head "It's a long story. Ruler can probably fill you in better than I can." Shirou said and Saber nodded then looked around "Where is Rin?" She asked and Shirou became silent "She... She was taken." Shirou struggled to say "I see." Saber said and kneeled, everyone looked shocked and Shirou became embarrassed "Hey Saber there's no need for that come on stan-" "Shirou. Once again I vow to protect you with all I have, on my honor as a knight, as a king and on my honor as a Saber. No matter if you are my master or not, I will be your sword." She said amd Mordred scoffed "Thank you Saber." Shirou said and Saber rose.

The next day everyone began to prepare, Shirou had gotten dressed in his old clothes that reminded him of the Holy Grail War, he took the pendant that Rin gave him out of his pocket, it swung back and forth like a pendulum "Hang in there Tohsaka, I'm coming." He says, Saber steps out of the mansion "Shirou?" She says and Shirou turns "Oh, hey." He greets her, Shirou puts the pendant back in his pocket, Saber notices the pendant as he puts it back in pocket "That's your catalyst is it not? It's what Rin used to summon Archer." Saver points out "Nothing gets past you does it?" Shirou says as he laughs nervously "Yeah, she gave it to me as a gift when we moved into the Clocktower." He told her "I'm curious. Why did you summon me instead of Archer?" Saber titled her head "Huh? Well that's obvious isn't it?" Shirou said "You're like my partner. I couldn't have survived through the Grail War without you." Shirou said and Saber blushed a little "And I, you. Shirou." She responded "It's time." Ruler stepped outside "Let's go save Tohsaka." Shirou turned to Saber and Saber nodded and followed Ruler to leave to the Hanging Gardens.
