7. Do You Want Me?

"Hello Lena?"

"No this is Imani how can I help you?" Imani's voice says as Lena must be busy.

"Is your mommy around this is Mr. Nelson..." I say nervous as Imani's voice brighten up.

"Hi Mr. Nelson why are you calling my Mama oooo is Cordell in trouble?" She asked excitedly.

"No he's not..."

"Am I in trouble?"

"No you're not I just want to talk to your mother okay?" I say as I was already nervous to call.

I saw her dropping off the kids today and she smile and wave and I waved back but it was so awkward.

And at practice when she came for Cordell and Imani she just stood by the door and waited for them.

I must of scared her off and I didn't mean too I want to do the opposite.

"Okay MAMA!!! THE PHONE!!!" Imani yells and I chuckle a bit.

"Imani you didn't have to yell but go and finished cleaning your room you're not done yet...Hello?" I hear her sweet voice and smile.

"Lena this is Prince I just wanted to call and apologize for the other night I didn't mean to bolt like that..." I say sighing.

"No that's okay Prince...you were talking to me about your wife and that was wrong of me..." She says and I sigh a bit more.

"No it's okay Lena really I did want to kiss you this is not your fault I only ran because I felt like I...I know how hard it's been with your divorce and you care about your kids stability I didn't want to push you or ruin what you're working on I know you're kids comes first..." I say as she chuckle a bit.

"Can we start over? And this time if it's okay with you I wouldn't mind things escalating slowly and organically..." She says making me smile.

"Okay so Ms. Simmons may I take you out next Saturday night?" I asked nervous than anything I felt the sweat drip down my back.

"Sure see you at 8..." She says before hanging up and I smile.

I got a date with my high school crush...

Man I got to figure out what we are going to do....

"Mama who are you seeing at 8?" Imani asked me eavesdropping.

"None of your concern Imani now did you clean that room?" I ask as she nods.

"Okay CORDELL!!! Come downstairs it's movie time..." I say as I try to spend as much time with my kids as possible.

"Mama got a date Dell..." Imani says as I roll my eyes.

"That's good Mama don't worry I'll give him a once over before he tries anything funny..." Cordell says as we sit on the couch.

"Thanks baby okay let's watch this movie you guys got me watching..." I say as I press play....

The movie they chose was some Wreck It Ralph.

They seem to be enjoying it and I couldn't really complained either as we continue on until they fell asleep....

This was a away game over in New Jersey so it was closer for Bernard who actually made it to the game.
