24. Catch Me If You Can...

Walking through University of Minnesota Medical Center I walk up to the nurses station.

"Detective Williams here to see Mrs. Nelson?" I say showing my badge as the nurse sifted through medical files.

"Oh yes she is in room 217 use that elevator and take a left once you get off on the second floor..." She says and I take her directions.

"So you couldn't wait for me partner?" My partner Devin says as he chewed on a donut.

"Don't got time to wait on you and your morning snack binge we have a investigation to start..." I roll my eyes and enter the elevator.

"Tele come on why so crass?" He asked me.

"The victim was a old friend of mine and only if I was there this wouldn't of happen..." I say cursing myself for missing the wedding tying up old case files for a cold case.

I was going to swing around for the reception too bad it never happen.

"Is this going to get personal because you know captain..."

"Devin don't start I don't give a fuck what captain has to say nobody can work this case like me alright?" I say and he nods as we head off the elevator.

Entering my bestfriend wife's hospital room I notice her packing up her things with a woman and two kids.

"Hello Mrs. Nelson I am Detective Williams but you can call me Teleise I am a friend of Prince and I am investigating the shooting may I speak with you about the incident?" I introduced myself to her and her family.

"Uh sure can we speak in his room I am on my way over there to see him before we even leave the hospital, um mama can you take the kids home I'll catch a ride with this detective okay..." She says and I nod to let them know I wouldn't mind giving her a lift.

"Okay so what is it you'll like to know first?" She asked as we walked in and there he laid with tubes in his body and his heart beat moving but he need to be awake.

"Do you or Prince have any enemies?" I asked as this is crazy after his first wife died he stayed relatively to himself and the first time he ventures out and get back the love he always spoke about this shit happens.

"Yeah I believe my ex-husband could of done this, Bernard Stewart as he was very upset about me being remarried and pregnant with my husband's child he try to break up the wedding and at the same time we just got a restraining order processed for Stacey Adams a stalker of Prince's...any one of those crazy mofos could of done this..." She says kissing his forehead trying to hold back the tears as Devin write down what she says.

"And you didn't get a glance at the shooter?" Devin ask and I glare at him.

"No I heard a loud pop than I turn to see my husband on the ground bleeding while everyone ran off in a frenzy and I try to get him help..." She says sniffling and I know this is a lot.

"Okay when you're ready we will be outside waiting to give you a lift.

"So who you want to talk to first the ex or the stalker?" Devin ask and I sigh grabbing a drink from the vending machine.

"First you will call Mary and ask her to pull everything on both suspects and then we will find the bastard who did this to my best friend and make them pay..." I say as we wait for Lena...

"Okay what we got?" I ask as we are back at the station after dropping Lena off.

"Well Bernard Stewart was there at the scene after the ceremony and his outburst he was spotted outside talking to a strange figure before he took off..." Mary another great detective says as we sit in the squad room.
