i think i could have loved you.
i find these words so hard to vomit out.

i'd take traffic jams and waking up late everyday if it meant we could be more than friends.

but more than friends is diving headfirst into the inevitable heartbreak and nights of feeling like i'm not enough,
so please understand why i shut that door.

if having you means that i can't be with you then i'll take even that.
an image of our lips touching again forever replays in my messy mind.

everyone i ever loved ended with a disconnection, and my soul couldn't bare to lose the laughter that we share.

you are more than just a friend;
you are the one i am so afraid to love.

my friends tell me to take the jump and explore every ounce of you,
but what if i do, and you don't catch me?
then i lose someone who makes my heart feel like a million stars and someone who makes any room feel like home.
fears and what ifs will chain me to the walls i have built.

i think i could have loved you,
if i wasn't afraid to lose you.
