Blue Beetle x Reader

Jamie is pretty popular. Not that I disagree. He's pretty great. This was requested by Zatannawitch2. On with the story! 💙

You were trying very hard not to freak out as you lay in a medical bed with the whole team surrounding you, including your older sister, Zatanna. Everyone had worried expressions on their faces, which was making you extremely uncomfortable. "Guys, let's give her some space. Apártate." Jamie, also your crush, spoke up. He led everyone but Zatanna outside the room.

"Okay. What happened?" She asked once everyone left. You shook your head slightly, "I'm not really sure, but all I know is that it hurts." You sighed. "All I can tell you was that I was up against a magical being, he shot me with a spell or something and I passed out, I woke up here." She nodded, "Okay, I might have to have someone help me figure out this magic, I've never seen this before."

Indeed it was strange, plant life seemed to be eating at you. It was physically coming out of your skin and it was extremely painful. So far there were little blooms here and there.

She stood and left with a small goodbye and Jamie appeared through the door. "Do you need anything?" He asked, causing you to smile a little. "Maybe some painkillers for now." He nodded, "Sure thing, (Y/N)."

He spent most of the day with you, he even offered to stay behind with you instead of going on patrol with the others. It was better than being alone while Zatanna was busy figuring this out. It was getting a little late, but you weren't tired, not like you could sleep much with the pain anyway.

You and Jamie were playing a card game while carrying up a conversation, when you felt a stabbing pain go through your forearm and carry all the way up to your shoulder. Jamie quickly went to your side and wrapped his arm around you to support you. There wasn't much to do except ride it out. Kinda like a muscle spasm. Only worse.

When it was over, Jamie didn't move his arm. In fact it ever so slightly tightened around you. You look up and knew why. There was a mysterious woman in a nurse outfit entering the room, Zatanna entering behind her. The woman came up and held her hand out, giving a sideways glance to Jamie. "Easy tiger, I'm here to help." She said, looking back to you.

After a few moments, she looked over to Zatanna. "She's losing a lot of her life force. If we don't find a cure soon, the blooms will continue to spread and she'll die. I'll need a sample." She turned back to you and grabbed one of the many blooms on your skin, sending a jolt of pain along your entire body.

You fault back a few tears as she managed to pluck it out, and left. "I'm sorry, sis, we'll let you know when we find the cure." She left after the woman. (If you can guess who the woman is, I applaud you.) Jamie put pressure over where the bloom was plucked, which subsided the pain.

"Hey, I'll help you through this, if you need anything, just ask." He said with a comforting smile. You smile back with a small blush. "Do. . . Do you think you could stay?" You ask timidly. His smile widened and he wrapped his other arm around you. "Por supuesto."

He stayed all night, falling asleep next to you.

Before either of you woke that next day, Zatanna and the woman entered to tell that they've found a cure, only to find you curled up in Jamie's arms, the blooms gone, and you seemed like you weren't in pain anymore.

"Only an act of true love can the blooms be no more."

Bonus:

After a brief description of what the cure was, Jamie smirked and looked over to you. "Does this mean I'm your prince charming?"

"JAMIE!"

He earned a punch to the arm. But that was okay, seeing your flushed face, and knowing you weren't on the brink of death was well worth it.
