KAI'S P.O.V.

Bug said she'd be much comfortable going back to her apartment. I don't argue with her. We walk back to her place. A million things on my mind. But out of all of them, Bug is number one.

TJ won't answer me. Everyone in the office is recording today so I can't even talked to them. Bug has cheered up a little bit but she tears up every so often.

I tell Bug some funny stories of us, seeing if she remembers. And try to make her happy.

"Remember when we snuck out at like, midnight so we could go watch Paranormal Activity? " I ask her. "Yeah, I remember regretting ever even thinking it was a smart idea. " she says laughing. I laugh too. "We were so dumb." She says. "Who said 'were'?!" I say. We burst out laughing.

"What about the time we tried buying liquor without an ID? Plus we were under age." She says. "Now that one, was just plain idiotic. I don't know how we thought we would get away with it?!" We laugh a little then I look at her. She knows the look and says, "you know where it is." She smiles and rolls her eyes. I jump up, "YUS!"

I run into her kitchen and open the cabinet beside the dishwasher and dig around until I find an amazing, full, unopened, bottle of Rum. I run back over to Bug and sit down. "You have first drink" I say handing her the bottle. "Don't mind if I do." She says, gladly taking the bottle. She chugs. "Woah! Save some for me." I exclaim, laughing. Bug hands over the bottle and I take a sip. All the memories of JC and I sitting on my roof, drinking, looking at the stars, come flooding into my mind. I smile. I cry.

I stop. I quickly wipe the tears away and take another sip.

*Memory*

"it'll be fun." I say to JC over the phone.

"Your mom won't care?" He asks. "Don't be such a goody-goody. Plus, she's working late tonight. She won't know." I say with a smile on my face.

"Alright. Fine. Deal. I'll come. I'll bring something good from my mom's liquor cabinet. " He says. I can tell he was smiling too. "You better. See you later." I say. "Love you." he whispers. "Love you too. " I whisper back.

We don't whisper it because we're embarrassed,  it's just what we've always done. And I think it's cute. :)

Later that evening I get a knock on my door. "Com'in!" I call.

"Hey babe." JC says as he hugs me. "What did you bring?" I ask, excitedly. "This." he says, holding out a beautiful red bottle with a black ribbon on it. "Woah...." I say. my eyes wide. "Nice isn't it?" he asks. I scoff. "Uh, yeah! Your mom won't notice it's missing." I ask. "Nah, she'll just think she drank it and buy another bottle." he says. We laugh.

"Well right this way." I say, guiding him to the fire escape. We climb up to the roof where I had set up a mattress, some candles, a few snacks and a radio. We lie down on the mattress and gaze up at the stars.

"wow... this is beautiful. I love it!" He says. "I know right. I could stay here forever. " I tell him. "Especially with you." he says. I turn and give him a kiss. "Should we give this a try?" he asks, holding up the bottle of Rum. "let's do this." I say. We each take a sip. It's strong at first but then, its delightful.

I turn the radio on and we end up spending the rest of the night on the roof, passing the bottle back and forth. Enjoying everthing. The music, the atmosphere, the sky, the presence of each other. "I love you." I whisper, hugging closer to his body. "I love you too." he whispers back. I end up falling asleep.

*Memory Over*

Bug is shaking me. Yelling at me. "Wake up Kai. Kai! Wake up!" I jolt up. My vision is blurry and I have a massive headache. "Ohhhhhh." I groan, holding my head. "This is why I said to stay away from boys." She says as she puts her hand on my shoulder. "What?!" I ask confused. "Oh dear Lord. She doesn't remember!" Bug calls out looking up at the ceiling. "Explain please." I say.

"Well, you wouldn't hand over the bottle. So I let you have it. But you kept going on, and on, and on about things you and JC did and how much you loved him and how he's not coming back and how I'll never know the feeling and that I don't know what I got until it's gone. But I do know. I do Kai. And I gave everything for her. I loved her and now she's gone. She was all I had Kai. I don't even know if I have you anymore. Ever since you met TJ and you two got engaged, I've been abandoned. Again. I can't get my mom back now. She's gone, never to return. Just like everyone else. Just like you'll turn out." She stops. Tears flood her eyes and drench her cheeks. She looks away. "I'm sorry." She says. "No, Bug. I'm sorry. But, I was drunk. I never know what I'm saying. I never make any sense. I should leave." I say. "Yeah. Go. Just like the rest of them. Enjoy your life." She says, tearing up even more. "Bug! I would never! EVER! Leave you. No matter what. You've always been here for me. Through thick and thin. And that's always how it's going to be." I yell at her, starting to cry a little myself. She comes running into my arms. "You're right. I'm just still upset. "She says, apologizing. "Anyone would be. I'm not blaming you. I just thought maybe you would enjoy some time alone. " I tell her.  She nods. "Maybe that's what I need." I smile and leave her apartment.
