Chapter 18

Jackie

He sat beside Moon. "Jackie, Brownie!" his house-folk called.

"We've got to go..." he told Mystery.

"What about my pups?" she questioned.

His eyes went from her to the four pups she found. "Your pups?"

"I'm her pup, most definitely," Shasta told him.

He went back to meet Mystery's eyes. "Please, Jackie!"

"Okay. They'll have to sneak in," he muttered to the convincing beautiful Clan dog.

All the pups cheered. "I can't wait Mysteryheart!" Kyann said her name perfectly. "We can do all kinds of things with you!"

"I don't know..." Jackie muttered unsure. Darn pretty dog. he thought. "You guys will have to stay hidden in the day and in the house quiet with us."

"Sounds great!" both Rainbow and Moon said at the same time.

Shasta shrugged. "Better than here alone."

"Jackie, Brownie!"

"Get to the monster, hurry!" Mystery told the pups and they ran after her.

Fido and Jackie were left behind watching them leave. "She's amazing," he whispered.

"Yes she is," Fido answered. "Go get her. I'm sure she loves you too."

Jackie gazed at him questioningly. "Did I say that? I sure hope so..." he answered.

"I'll see you later!" Fido called as Jackie ran after her. Her sleek gray and white fur sparkled. He met her side.

"There you are!" she said cheerfully. "I thought you got attacked, I was very worried, honestly."

His mouth tugged up into a smile. "You've got nothing to worry about," he tried to assure. Even though she had a right to be worried. He didn't know how to fight. He would attack someone if they hurt her though.

"Come on, pups! I'm gonna teach you guys all kinds of things!" her cheeriness was adorable. "I'll teach you how to attack! When you're six moons though... I know, until then I'll teach you, Jackie!" 

The happiness that shown in all of their faces made him smile. "Sounds great!"

They made their way to the car. He only knew that it was called that because they always yelled "let's go bye bye car". That's what the house-folk pup would say, at least. Soon after, he figured out that it was called a car.

"Hurry, go back, back! Quickly!" he rushed the three pups in. Mystery and Jackie stayed out. "Go in first. They're coming!"

One squealed during the ride making him tense. He barked over their sound. "Shut up, Jackie!" the female house-folk ordered. A bulge from her stomach could be seen. The male told her something that he couldn't understand.

They got to his large house-folk den. "Jackie, Brownie!" the house-folks called to them.

"Shasta," she muttered as the pup left. "Moon, Kyann, Rainbow..."

Jackie looked at Mystery before hopping out of the car. "Come on. Let's go to the gate. Yeah, the house-folk know where we're going so... We just need to sneak them in."

Was it going to be hard? Defiantly. Was it going to be fun? Since Mystery was there, yes. Was this for Mystery? Yes. Would he do anything for her? Yes!

"Mystery, follow me," when he started moving she kept looking back. "Don't look back!" he snapped.

Very hard. he stated.
