~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~

This is a work of fiction, if people places or events are similar to real life, it's a coincidence and I apologize.

This is my story, please no hate mail and if I want suggestions I'll ask.

One more thing... absolutely NO COPYING this is my original work. They are my characters and I do not appreciate thieves. It's mean and dumb and illegal to steal other people's stuff so don't even thing about it.

This is my first attempt at a werewolf story, so if it's really cheesy or cliché I apologize before hand. Happy reading...

The council sat in an endless silence, each magical creature lost in their own thoughts. With the birth of this new princess and taking into account the state of her people, something had to be done. After what seemed like eons, the most powerful of the five, a man dressed in flowing robes that seemed to constantly be changing color, spoke up, "My children, their species, have almost been wiped out. There are only seven of them left." He sighed, running a hand down his face. "This new child still makes only eight. We need to step in before the rest of them die out. We can't make the same mistake twice, we already let one species die." They all glanced over at the cloaked lady sitting directly across from the man who had just spoken. This was their natural instinct, this look used to be filled with sympathy, but was now filled with question. It was as if they were asking with their eyes for her to speak or give input. However, her gaze remained stoic as always and she slightly bowed her head in agreement no sounds leaving her mouth.

"They are not being hunted any longer." A man in a gold and black armor spoke up. "If we leave them be they should be able to regroup and bring back their species."

"But can we take that risk?" The man in the ever changing robes calmly responded.

"We could send some of my children to watch them?" A petite woman dressed in a beautiful dress that seemed to be woven of flowers and sunlight asked. "You can trust they will do your species no harm."

"There is not need for us to interfere." The man dressed in armor interjected.

"We should have helped earlier, it should have never come this far." The robed man argued back.

The last two council members sat quietly in their seats having a silent conversation with their eyes. When finally, a woman dressed in a shimmering silver gown raised her voice, "enough." She said silencing everyone. She looked over at the silent cloaked figure next to her who again gave a nod.

"There is a simple answer to this." The other council members waiting for her to continue. "We shall do what we have been doing for centuries." The others looked at her confused, "we shall give the newest born of this dying species the perfect mate. He will protect her."

"And who do you suggest?" The armored men scoffed.

"The future king of my pups. He was born just a few months ago." She responded. The council erupted in arguments.

"That would tie two species together. It has only been done with lower ranking members, never the leaders of two species!" The armored man exclaimed.

"Who says he's good enough for the future Queen of my people?" The man with the rainbow robes questioned.

"That would place your species far above ours." The woman in the flowery dress said thoughtfully.

"No, it would simply calm the disputations between the two species involved and allow all of our people to live in harmony once again." The woman in the silvery gown argued back.

"Silence." The cloaked woman said standing from her seat. The council quieted instantaneously, they glanced over at the woman who was clad in the black of mourning (as she had been for the past few centuries) eager to hear what she had to say as they had not heard her speak since she had first donned the black clothing she now wore.  "We made a pact, before any of us began introducing new species into the world, that we would never interfere in their lives unless absolutely necessary. We tried letting our young ones work things out, but they are driven by fear. We always place soulmates together. Each time a child is born, we begin to search for a suitable soulmate for them. There have been many instances where those of different species have been placed together and everything has worked out. These two souls shine with the same bright fire and if it weren't for their stations, they would have been placed together immediately. But, even with their positions as they are, their union will be one that will be remembered for the rest of eternity. Not only will this mating save a dying species, but it will bring two fighting species back into harmony with one another. These two souls were made with three main purposes 1) to unite our children  2) to save a species 3) to love each other. Who are we to stand in their way?"

And so, the souls were tied together and the council sat back and watched as each child grew up, clueless as to what lie in their futures.
