Prompt: Write a story that involves confusion over homonyms (words that have the same spelling but different meanings) or homophones (words that sound the same but are spelled differently).
Story:
"Where'd you go last night?"
"To the Katy Perry concert"
"No way!"
"Yes way!"
"Why didn't you invite me?"
"I didn't know you want to"
"I LOVE Katy Perry"
"You do?"
"YES! I can't believe you left me a loan"
"I didn't lint you a loan"
"Lint? No, not a loan, but alone"
"Oh. And I said lent, not lint"
"Huh. Well, did you meat her?"
"Meat her? Like, slapped Katy with a rabbi or something?"
"What? Why would you slap Katy with a Jewish teacher? I meant, did you meet her in person?"
"Ohhh. No, I didn't. Weight, a Jewish teacher? I meant, a rib-eye steak.
"That's even weirder. Where're the weights anyway? I've bean meaning to build some muscle"
"I didn't say any weights. We don't even own one. And when you said 'bean', is it like 'bean'? or 'been'?"
"You're not making any cents"
"Hey, I make 600 bucks weakly! Gimme a brake"
"600 bucks is weak for you? How much is knot then? And what would you do with a brake though?"
"I don't know what your talking about, I want a break, not a brake. What would you tie into a knot anyway?"
"I said not, not knot!"
"I'm so confused"
"Me too."
"Let's just go to bed"
"Grate idea"
