Prompt: You've managed to launch a SweetHearts Conversation Hearts competitor in time for Valentine's Day, but you have to make them distinct enough from the original product to avoid a lawsuit. What messages do you put on your candy treats, and how do you style them?
Story:
"Are you sure we can trust him Ally?" Ashby, my husband, asked me as we walked to the front gate of the candy factory.
"Ash, we've been through this conversation three weeks ago." He's always been skeptic about this job ever since we set foot in that candy factory.
My friend Mike owns this candy factory that he inherited from his dad that was passed on to him starting from his great grandparents, I remember going here a lot when I was a kid, thinking that this was the best place on earth. Mike's grandfather used to give us two a lot of sweets, so much that it would make our parents furious every time we go home with a tummy ache or our teeth hurting.
Ash stopped walking for a moment. "It's just that, I don't think we've spent our money's worth on this, pentagonal candy with words that we didn't even made ourselves." Clearly he's worried and I perfectly understand that.
"Ash, relax, I know Mike won't let me down." He let out a sigh of defeat and continued walking to the factory entrance.
As we showed our ID's to the security guard, they called someone from the factory to show us the way inside the warehouse.
Walking near to the warehouse, we can see Mike from the windows outside. He waved when he saw us and immediately went to where we were.
"Hey guys, how are you two doing today?" Mike greeted us with a warm smile.
"Good Mike, Ash here is a little nervous though." I joked.
"Ah. No need to worry, I'm sure they'll love it. Let's go inside shall we?" Mike then showed us the way into his warehouse and to where our candies were being kept.
I gasped as I saw the candies all mixed in a colorful fashion. "It's just like those conversation hearts candy thing!" I almost screamed in excitement.
"And that's not all! Wait 'till you see what we've written on them." Mike chuckled.
We watched Mike pull out our special pentagonal candies and followed him in a sanitary room where he placed some of the candies on a big sheet of tissue.
"What is this?" Ash sounded furious. I saw him pick up a few of the sugary sweets and read what's written on them.
"I want to choke you with my cooking? Let me kill you with love? Can I stab you with my affections? I want to drown you with kindness? Our daughter is going to use these for her valentines project and this is the best that he can come up with? Who does he think the judges are? Goths?"
"Ash, relax." I tried to calm him down.
"Ashby, these are our number one selling candies. We here in the company believe in our products and I hope you'd feel the same way too." Mike tried to reason with Ash.
After a few seconds of silence, Ash finally spoke. "Fine. You better hope you're right."
Next afternoon, our daughter called just to tell us that she came in first place. I knew those candies were as good as Mike said they were.
Ash gave a light chuckle when I told him the news.
