Prompt: Complete the following sentence and write a scene or story that begins with it:
"It's strange to think that I never would have known about ____________ if I hadn't taken that left turn."
Story:
"Boys suck Carrie." I sat down at the table in front of Carrie who's reading peacefully on the sofa in the living room of our sorority house.
She laughed. "Why? Cause Brian cheated on you or something?" She didn't even look at me.
I gasped. "Yeah, how did you know?" My mouth was gaped wide open.
She gasped as well. "Wait what? No way!"
"Yes way!" I almost screamed.
"Spill it sister. Give me all the tea. Who was it?" She immediately slams her textbook and repositioned herself to look towards me.
"It was Kaitlyn, I'm sure of it."
"You didn't see her face?"
"I didn't have to. I know that purple hair and that revealing outfit anywhere."
"Really?! She got some nerve!"
"You know Carrie, it's strange to think that I never would have known about that skank if I hadn't taken that left turn."
"Left turn?"
"Yeah, I was on my way to Bobby's for uhm... homework, but I got a little parched, so I took a left on my way to the uhm, library, to go get a non-fat soy latte and that's when I saw Brian sucking this purple haired hoe's face!"
"Wait, Bobby?" Uh oh. I shouldn't have mentioned him.
"Ughh, Carrie, let's not make this about you okay?" I tried changing the subject.
"Bobby, as in my boyfriend Bobby?" She wants to pry on that topic.
"Geez, yes Carrie. Now can we go back to Kaitlyn?"
"Hold on, what did he help you with? Cause last time I checked, I'm way smarter than him."
"Wait really?" She must not know. Or else our friendship is over.
"Uhm, hello Jenna? 3.5 GPA last year, duh." Oh that's right, she's the smartest person in this house.
"Okay, okay, next time I need help with homework, I'll come to you."
"Don't tell me you've been hooking up with Bobby." She stared into my eyes. Oh no. I'm not good at hiding things from her.
"Uhm, no?" I said unconfidently.
She gasps. "You have! You skank, how dare you?!" She immediately lunges at me and we both started screaming, kicking and pulling each other's hair until all the other sisters in our house pulled us apart.
Both of us were kicked out of the sorority house that day, me and Bobby got together cause he and Carrie broke up and I never talked to Carrie ever again.
A lot of things quickly took a left turn that day.
