Mazie entered the little cottage. "How'd it go, Maz?" Her mother asked laying out dinner on the table.
"Well, Scar is doing OK. I think he just needs some time alone." Mazie responded, helping her mom.
   "Oh, really? What happened?"
"He was play fighting... with my sleeve..." Mazie sighed. Her mother nodded, handing her some silverware. "Dad? Dinner's ready!" She yelled while sitting down. Her father came down the stairs. He sat next to his wife.
"Alright! Let's eat!" Her father said joyfully taking a drink of water. She smiled and started on her meal. "So, how was your day, Mazie? Catch anything else?"
"No... but I'll staying home tomorrow! I've been a bit tired lately," She yawned. Her mother smiled and nodded.
"Right, Mazie?" Her mother asked, "I have something to show you after dinner!" She smiled and gave her a thumbs up.

After they ate Mazie and her mother went out to the shed. "What is it mom? We're literally going to a shed..." Her mother put a finger to her lips as she opened the shed doors. Mazie gasped at what she saw. "A rune sword?! Mom! How?! Those things are rarer than dragons! Seriously, how?!"
"All will be revealed over time!" Her mother smiled. Mazie laughed and picked up the sword, examining its sharp blade. The runes running down the middle shone with every chance. She giggled at the fact that she could see her reflection in it. She looked at the handle, it was perfectly her size. She gleamed as she ran outside. Mazie quickly swung it at a tree, creating a huge dent.
"It's so sharp! A-and it's my size! It's even still sharp! I can see my reflection in it! It's so cool mom!" She laughed.
Her mother laughed, "And it's all yours!" Mazie looked at her wide eyed. She shook her head. "No, Mazie, take it!" Mazie shuttered happily and ran inside.
"DAD! Look-"
"I know, Mazie. Happy birthday." Her father cheered. That's right, her birthday is tomorrow! She giggled and hugged her parents close.
"I love you both..." Mazie cried happily.
"Alright, Maz. You were tired, go to bed!" Mazie's dad laughed.
She nodded, running upstairs to the attic. Mazie quickly dressed in a nightgown. She set the sword next to her bed. She sighed, "I hope you sleep well, Scar... and I hope you're doing OK tomorrow." Her eyelids dropped as she fell into a deep sleep.
