They walked along a dirt path, mud occasionally coating their shoes. Mazie had no interest in the path or mud, but how tall the trees were, and how beautiful the forest was.
"Why are we walking along a path? Doesn't it make us easy prey?" Mazie asked, looking at the path ahead.
"Well, yes... but the quickest way to... him... is to get the the nearest town. Once we get there we head north. There is no trail there, probably because he likes to stay hidden..."
At this point, Mazie couldn't care less about who HIM was. She honestly just wanted to get there as fast as they could. "Hey, this might sound stupid... but, Can we get some horses at the town? My feet hurt!" She complained.
"No, When we get there... he will most likely eat them. And... I'll most likely eat them halfway there."
"YOU EAT HORSES?!" She shrieked, walking to the other side of Scar.
"Only when I'm hungry! And that's most of the time... but you can't blame me! When you're starving and there's a fresh horse right there!" She growled, walking faster.
"You're messed up... and... how much longer till we get there?" She asked, petting Scar.
   "We'll get there tomorrow."
"Seriously? That's awhile... I'm assuming we'll stop to sleep?" Mazie muttered, walking after to match Paisley's pace.
"Why wouldn't we? I'm not going to make you walk for 40 hours straight. And yes, I know that timing isn't correct, it's my best assumption."
She smiled as they walked onward. They talked for a few hours. Just about life and their stories. Every now and then Mazie would admire the forest. Beautiful pine trees as far as they could see. There were magnificent birds soaring and chirping.
Her heart skipped a beat as she looked at the best part. Well, she couldn't tell if it was the water or the sound of the water behind Paisley.
She shook Paisley's shoulder and ran to it.
"WATER! GOD! It's been forever!" She cheered, cupping water in her hands and chugging the handful down.
"Yeah... it really has been," Agreed Paisley, as she bent down to get some water the tip of hair was covered in water. She gave a quick snarl as she threw her long hair back.
"You know... you don't have to keep your hair that long. I was going to cut mine. But then, you already know.
"Yes? I know. I really don't want to though. I just... it brings back memories."
"I'm just say- ACK!" She was pushed into the water by something, she didn't know what.
She pushed up for air, she heard Paisley and someone else shouting at each other. She broke the surface, seeing two swords clanging and clashing loudly. Mazie threw Paisley her own sword as she gave Mazie her sword back
