While in town they stayed out in a barn. Paisley made the fire while Mazie huddled under a blanket. Paisley smiled as she got the wood lit and sat next to Mazie. They both smiled, they already ate and now we're just getting ready to sleep.
"Paisley," Mazie yawned, laying her own head on her shoulder, "At first I hated you, but since you saved me, I see you're a trustworthy friend."
She blushed and set her hand on Mazie's head. "N-no, I'm not a good friend!" Paisley said.
"Yes you are, you're an amazing friend," She replied yawning and slowly closing her amber eyes. Paisley would pat her head and they would fall asleep there.
Mazie woke up coughing, smoke filled her lungs. Paisley was carrying her outside like a child. "What's happening?!" She cried as flames licked her sides.
"A fire! And keep your head low! If it's me or you to survive, it's gonna be you!" She shouted as they ran outside. Paisley set Mazie down and held her close.
"SCAR?!" Mazie realized, she started sobbing for the wolf, "Where's Scar?!" She buried her wet with tears face in Paisley's chest. Paisley held her back and pet her head. She let a tear loose herself.
"Shh... it's ok, he's in a better place. Just be happy you're alive... shh... don't cry!" She reassured, "Cmon Mazie! If you keep crying I'll will too! I care about you, don't cry please!"
Mazie finally stopped crying so hard and wrapped her arms around Paisley. She hugged her back, continuing to reassure Mazie.
