calluses

My fingers are covered in calluses from playing the guitar
Tiny little helmets I wear so I can slide up and down the frets without getting sore

I often find myself insecure about my short nails and hard fingertips
My hands seem boyish and ugly compared to what I'm conditioned to believe a teenage girl's hands should look like

But then I remember, my body grew that tiny bit of armor just for me
My fingers strengthened themselves so I could continue doing something that made me happy,
And if that isn't beautiful I don't know what is

And maybe if I started thinking that way about other parts of my body
I'd be much happier
