RecapJungkook rushed downstairs to open the door. I heard voices, one in particular that stood out significantly. I froze up instantly as I suddenly recognized the voice. My body froze. Slowly, I got up and limped to my room's doorway. I looked at the man standing at my front door. Chills ran down my spine.
Drake.
Present
"Eury!" Drake exclaimed.
I stood there, rooted in my spot. I didn't know what to do.
"Eury, I'm sorry," Drake rushed. He pushed past Jungkook and walked into my house. He started towards the stairs, but didn't get far because Jungkook blocked him.
"Who's this guy?" Drake spat at Jungkook.
"I'm someone you should be worried about," Jungkook sneered back. I could tell he didn't like the energy Drake was giving.
"Go away, Drake," I said, firmly. I was starting to regain some strength in my body after the initial shock of seeing him. "I don't want you here."
"Please, Eury, just listen to me. I'm really sorry for everything I did." He was trying to defend himself, but I could see right through him. I was done with him.
"I said," I paused, collecting myself. "Go. Away."
He looked at me. He was hurt. But I didn't care. I didn't want to see him ever again. Especially after what he did to me. What he did to the people I loved.
"If that's what you really want."
"Yes. I do."
Slowly, he turned around and walked back to the door. He took one last look at me before he finally left.
I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding. I slumped to the floor, my back leaning against the doorway. I didn't cry. I didn't get angry. I just sat there, stunned. I thought he had left for good. Why was he back here?
Then, I remembered Jungkook was still here. I hadn't even heard him rush upstairs. I hadn't felt him shake me. It's like the image of him from a few moments ago was still playing in front of my eyes, blocking out my surroundings.
"Eury." Jungkook shook me out of my daze. I looked up at him. He was squatting in front of me, his eyes full of worry. I stared at him, confused.
"Why are you helping me so much?" I asked. He was a bit surprised at the question.
"Um..."
"I'm just a random girl you happened to bump into on the side of the street. Why are you helping me?" I asked again.
"I'm not really sure," he trailed off. "I just... I guess I like being around you. I feel the need to give you everything. I can't really explain it because I don't know, myself."
I looked down at my hands.
"Thank you," I whispered.
"Um... You're welcome."
We sat there for a minute.
"Here, let me help you back to your bed." He stood up and gave me his hand.
I grabbed it as he helped pull me up. He used just a bit too much force and I ended up colliding with his chest. He stumbled backwards a little, hands wrapped around my waist as the doorway caught him. I was leaning on him, trusting him to hold both of us up. Thank goodness I didn't fall on top of him this time, I thought.
I always seemed to end up in this position, no matter the situation. This time, it felt different. I felt something different as I stared into his eyes. When I first saw him when he saved me from the speeding car, I figured he was just some guy that knew he was attractive and knew he could get any girl he wanted. When I see him now, I can see he's a very down-to-earth, genuine man who was actually just a big softie. I liked it.
We were still staring at each other when I heard the door fly open.
"Eury, my babe! Your favorite person is here and I have - "
It was Jas. She suddenly stopped when she saw Jungkook and me at the top of the stairs with red faces. We were already standing five feet apart by the time she noticed he was here. That was close, I mentally patted myself on the back.
"Oh, I didn't know Jungkook was here!" Jas said looking at him.
"Yeah, I was just about to leave, it's okay," Jungkook said, flustered. He rushed down the stairs and out the door before I could even move an inch.
"What was that about?" Jas asked.
I looked back and just shrugged.
"Anyway," Jas shook her head, "I brought you your favorite snacks - peanut M&M's and chicken tenders! Separately, obviously."
"Jas, you're the best," I said, blowing a little kiss towards her. "Close the door and come upstairs. We can watch something in my room."
With that, Jas grabbed plates and forks from the kitchen before she came up to my room. We decided on a new show that I'd been hearing about - Black Window or something? - and got comfortable. It had been a pretty eventful day and later updated Jas on everything that had happened, Jungkook texting me about something he wanted to say and then Drake showing up. I wish I could take my mind off of everything just for a little while. Thanks to Jas, I had yummy chicken tenders to help me with that.
