Ella's POV:
Michael didn't stop by after school. The only person that did was Ashton. He came over five times trying to talk to me. I didn't want to talk to him at all so Townes sent him home each time. I didn't want to talk to anyone at school today. I put my headphones in when I walked in the hallways. I ignored Ashton and Michael. I sat with Townes and his friends at lunch. My plan was going great until after 7th period Michael was waiting outside of my classroom. I glared at him when I walked out and kept walking.
"Ella Kate." He sighed.
"I don't want to talk to you anymore." I kept walking.
"It's good to talk about it."
"You would know, wouldn't you?" I roll my eyes.
"I'm sorry!" He whined.
"I'm sure you say that to all the girls who caught you cheating on them."
"God damn it Ella." He grabs my arm and turns me so I face him. "Sorry." He let's go of my arm but grabs my hand. I try to pull away but he hold on tighter.
"Can you listen to me?"
"Can you let go of my hand." I snap.
"Fine." He huffs and drops my hand. "Want me to drive you home?" He scratches his head.
"We can talk here." I run my hands through my hair. We were right outside of the school. Ashton was sitting at one of the tables outside with Luke and Calum.
"I'm sorry you had to find out that way." He shook his head. "Ashton told me to drop Mia because I liked you more but i just couldn't."
"Yeah okay." I roll my eyes.
"It's nothing personal Ella, you were great I just need more than one girl." He shrugged.
"You could of said we weren't exclusive." I look at the ground.
"I know."
"So why didn't you?" I furrow my eyebrows.
"I don't know."
"You know Michael if you are going to cheat you probably shouldn't be in a relationship. Grow up and treat people like people instead of tools in your selfish ego workshop." I raised my voice. He opened his mouth to say something but nothing came out. "You're such a dick." I laugh.
"I said I was sorry."
"But are you really? You've done this so many times to other girls. If you're sorry you wouldn't keep doing it."
"You were different."
"If I was different why did you treat me like everyone else?" I raise my eyebrows.
"Because I'm a dick!" He yelled.
"I'm not going to disagree." I mutter.
"I'm a sucky person for cheating on you and messing with you and I'm sorry, honestly. And I know that you won't take me back but I want you to forgive me so we can be at least friends with you."
"Okay." I eye him.
"Really?"
"I'll think about it."
"Want me to drive you home?" Michael asked again. I glance over at Ashton, Luke and Calum. Luke and Calum were talking to someone and Ashton was watching me and Michael. I figured he would try to walk home with me once I was done talking and I really didn't want to talk to him.
"Yeah." I took a big breathe and looked back at Michael.
"Let's go." Michael smiled. My house was about 2 minutes away from the school by car so it really wasn't out of Michael's way. He dropped me off at home and I thanked him. Michael wasn't a great boyfriend, at all. I mean he was, he brought me flowers and was nice but he would always ditch me for Mia. He can continue dating Mia if he wants I could care less. I think Michael would be a good friend though. He seemed like he was caring enough.
I got home and had a snack, did my homework like the good student I am. I felt like taking a nap but I took one yesterday and my sleeping patterning was already messed up. So I went for a run. It was good. It was going to clear my head. That was until Ashton was sitting on his steps.
"I was hoping you would be running today." He stands up and I was about to pass his house. I just kept running.
"You can forgive Michael but you can't forgive me!" He raises his voice.
"It's not like that." I sigh and stop walking.
"Tell me what it's like then."
"I didn't forgive him nor am I back together with him, he just drove me home that's all and as for you I-I don't even know Ashton. I mean we just started begin friends again how could you keep that from me?" I walk closer.
"I forgave you for leaving me Ella!" He pulls at his hair. He had a point there. "And you wouldn't even tell me why you left."
"You didn't want me to!" I squeeze my eyes shut.
"You're keeping that from me!"
"You wanna know?" I snap.
"I don't!"
"So don't use it against me then Ash. I just don't get why you won't tell me."
"I didn't want you to get hurt."
"I wouldn't mind being hurt with the truth if it means I knew what was going on."
"I'm sorry."
"You even helped him keep it a secret."
"Well dammit Ella Kate I can't do anything right can I?"
"That's not what I'm saying-" I shook my head.
"Yes it is! I can't do anything, I suck at school, my parents are separated because of me, I lost my best friend and now I'm gonna lose her again."
"I didn't mean that."
"Bullshit." Ashton looks at the ground.
"You know that you're parents had a ton of problems they were dealing with, it wasn't you or anyone else. And school, i know you don't try and you should if you want to do good and you never lost me and you aren't going to." I run my fingers through my hair.
"I'm sorry." Ashton shifts his feet.
"It's okay." I sigh.
"So friends?" Ashton looked at me hopefully.
"Friends." I nod.
"Do you want to come over for dinner?" Ashton points at his house.
"I would have to tell my mom."
"You can stop by whenever you feel like it." Ash gives me a weak smile and walks backwards closer to his house.
"Will do." I shout over my shoulder as I run back to my house. When I get to my house I call my mom.
"Everything okay?" My mom answered the phone on the first ring.
"No, yeah everything is good, I just wanted to know if I could go over to the Irwin's for dinner?" I bite my lip.
"Oh," My mom sighed. "As long as you're back by 9. It's a school night."
"I will! Thank you!" I hang up and go up to my room to change my clothes.
