Ella's POV:

Ashton told me to come over to watch his band practice. I was hesitant about going over since I wasn't ready to be in the same room with Michael yet. I tried to get Townes to come with me. I literally begged but he kept saying he had plans, he just wouldn't tell me those plans.

I walked across the street and up Ashton's stairs and opened the front door.

"Hi Ella." Harry giggled from the living room.

"Where's your brother?" I smile at him.

"Basement." Harry pointed at the door that led to their downstairs. I gave him a nod and walked down the stairs.

"Ella?" Michael ran into me as I reach the bottom.

"I'm sorry." I mumble and move out of the way so he can go back up the stairs.

"It's fine." Michael licked his lips and stared at me. "I didn't know you were coming."

"Ashton told me to come like five minutes ago." I run my fingers through my hair.

"Oh." He continued to stare at me.

"Yeah." I nod. "Well you go do whatever you were about to do." I hear his foot steps run up the stairs. I bit my lip and walk into the room.

"Hi." Ashton smirked and twirled his drum stick in his hand as he sits on stool.

"Hi?" I furrow my eyebrows.

"That was fast."

"Well it's not like I live across the street." I roll my eyes.

"Mhm." Ashton licked his lips. "Right."

I felt so awkward. Like something was about to happen and I wasn't going to like it.

"Who's here?" Luke walked into the room with Calum.

"It's just Ella." Ashton laughs and glances at me.

"Oh hi Ella." Luke waves.

"Hello Ella Kate." Calum nods.

"Hi." I mumble. I look around the room and it was so quiet. "Maybe I should go-" I say slowly.

"Why?"

"I have homework." I lied. Well I didn't lie, I did have homework I just wasn't going to do it.

"No stay." Ashton pouted.

"Then stop acting weird."

"I'm not." He shrugged.

"You are a little bit."

"Are you nervous?" Ashton furrowed his eyebrows.

"Why would I be?"

"Michael's here." Ashton shrugged again.

"Oh I mean-"

"Because your the one acting weird." He laughs.

"I am not."

"Sure EK well we're going to start practicing."

"Okay." I mumble and unlock my phone and scroll through it.

Michael comes down and they all get ready and tune their guitars and whatever.

They played a few songs and they sounded good and I felt really awkward again. They were all talking to each other about what they could improve on.

"I'm going to get some water." I stand up.

"Okay." Ashton mumbles.

I walk up the stairs and into their kitchen. I grab a glass and fill it with water.

"Hey." Calum walks in while I was drinking it. I could really say anything so I waved to him.

"I have a question to ask you." Calum grabs a glass and fills it with water as well.

"Okay." I shrug.

"You're not really new are you?" He tilts his head.

"Well-"

"Because I heard some girls talking, at school a few days ago, about this girl named Ella Kate, who is back."

"I used to live here..." I said slowly. I didn't want him to get mad at me for lying to him.

"Okay that's what I thought, you did look familiar when I saw you at the beach." He nods. "Okay now my next question."

"Fire away." I mumble.

"Were you friends with Ashton before?"

"I was." I nod slowly.

"He used to talk about you." Calum stared at the counter.

"He did?" I tilted my head.

"Yeah." Calum laughed. "Well when he came to Michael's house for the first band practice he said he already had a song written and we all learned it. Then I asked him how he wrote it and he told me he had a friend who moved away and all this stuff."

"I-"

"This one time we were all sleeping over at my house and I wasn't asleep and neither was Ashton and he told me how much he liked this girl named Ella but she doesn't live anywhere close to him anymore. He said he cried over you for a few weeks after you left. I could hear him mumble your name in his sleep, Ella." Calum looked up at me.

"Ashton never liked me." I laughed, mostly because I was just uncomfortable with this.

"Yes he did. He was practically in love with you."

"He said he didn't like me." I whisper.

"Well he liked you, it was obvious." Calum sighed and finished his water before walked back down to the basement again. I stood in the kitchen by myself trying to think more about the fact that Ashton used to like me.

I never liked Ashton, I looked at him like he was my brother and the thought of liking him when I was younger made me want to throw up. He looks completely different now but he's still my best friend.

"Hey Harry can you tell Ashton I went home?" I walk into the living room. "I don't feel very well."

"Sure, I hope you feel better." Harry nodded.

I mumbled a thank you and walked out of their front door. I ran down the street to my house and straight into my house. I didn't know what to think anymore.

I'm sure Ashton still doesn't like me. I left such a long time ago. I'm sure his feelings for me are long gone.

-
