Ashton's POV:

"I have to go mom." I rolled my eyes as she nagged me about how my room was not clean.

"You're not going to be late, I told you to clean your room after I gave you those tickets! You had all weekend."

"But mom!" I groaned. "I was hanging out with Ella Kate!"

"I know you were but you can't use that as an excuse."

"Yes I can, I haven't seen her in 3 years! I want to spend time with her. I'll clean it up when I get back from school."

"You better or you're grounded Ashton." My mom shook her head.

"Okay bye!" I walk to the door to go outside. I always walk to school since I don't live that far from it. It's like a 10 minute walk at best. I walk past Ella's house and stare at it for a while. She probably got a ride from Michael, or walks with Townes. I start walking again and then hear her front door slam and then her running down the steps.

"Ashton." She breathes once she sees me.

"Hi." I say softly.

"I thought I was late. I didn't even look at the time." She laughs and crosses the street to walk with me.

"Where's Townes?" I ask.

"Uh he went in early I think." She ran her fingers through her hair. She was wearing a basic white top with a flannel tied around her waist and some white high tops. She looks so simple but so good at the same time.

"You didn't catch a ride with Michael?"

"Nope." She popped the 'p'. "He said he would meet me at my locker."

"Oh." I nod. "Did you get in more trouble after I left yesterday?"

"No ash." She laughed and shook her head.

"You're mom is so weird."

"Yeah she used to not care about what I did at all. She just wants me to be careful and save." She shrugs.

"That's what moms do." I roll my eyes.

"True."

"Did you have fun at the concert?" I turn to her.

"I did." She smiles.

"I thought I ruined it for you."

"No you didn't, you didn't do anything wrong." She shakes her head.

"I got mad at you though."

"Well it was my fault and there was poor communication so it's fine." She shrugs.

"You sure?"

"Yeah, you have bad communication skills." She laughs.

"Shut up." I whine.

"No seriously I figured they would get better because you're older now but they just got worse."

"You've gotten mean." I pout and push her off the sidewalk.

"Says the guy who just pushed me!" She laughs.

"I'm not even sorry." I shrug.

"That's so nice Ashton." She says sarcastically.

"You know how I do." I bite my lip to keep from laughing but I couldn't help it after Ella started laughing.

"Gosh you have gotten weirder." She shook her head.

"You've gotten very quiet and awkward." I bump her shoulder with mine.

"Yep." She sighs.

"Why?"
