Exhausted I dragged myself up the stairs to the apartment I shared with my best friend Felícia. My shift at work had really annoyed me, but at least I got paid that day. Immediately, when I entered the apartment, Cia - that is her nickname by the way - ran up to me with a huge smile plastered onto her face. I knew exactly what that meant; it was the first Saturday of the month and that meant that I had to go to a party with her. You see, I'm the type of girl that rather stays at home to read a good book, instead of going out every weekend, but I had promised her to join her on her "Latina-Day". She called that the "Latina-Day" because she, in fact, was a Latina, and because there was a Reggaeton event at her favorite club every first Saturday of the month. Since I had already made up excuses for the last three times, I couldn't let her down this time. Don't get me wrong, I loved her to death, but I didn't like Reggaeton at all and on top of that I hated dancing; both were things that she and her boyfriend, Damon, loved and so I was practically forced to go with them. They said, it was good for me to get out of my room and meet new people. "Casey, I'm so excited!" she exclaimed as she dragged me into the living room. Damon was already sitting on the couch, playing on his phone. Since my shift had ended at around ten and we wanted to go out at 12, I had to get ready. "I already have the perfect outfit for you!" Cia said proudly before leaving into her room. Yawning, I let myself fall onto the couch next to Damon. "Tired?" he asked, looking up from his phone. "Tired? More like almost dead." I mumbled into the pillow. He let out a chuckle in response. "Let's go get you ready!" I heard Felícia say from the hallway. Groaning, I looked up at her to find her standing there with a pair pair black jeans, a red loose crop-top and an also red baseball cap in her hand. "I need to get showered first. I literally smell like fries." I answered, sitting up. She nodded and waited patiently for me to get off the couch. Before I took the clothes out of her hands, I went into my room to grab some fresh underwear from my closet. After that, I thanked her, took the clothes and went into the bathroom.
Half an hour later, I was sitting in front of my make-up desk, deciding which eyeshadow color I should pick. "Either you go with dark smokey eyes, or you pick a color matching your outfit." Felícia suggested, leaning against my doorframe. Nodding, I prepared everything I needed, before heading back into the bathroom to blow-dry my hair. Since I knew I was gonna sweat at the club, I put my hair into a ponytail. When that was done, I put on the clothes she had picked for me from my closet by the way. I looked just like any other day, but still a little bit better. Felícia knew my taste in clothes and she also knew that I'd rather go in something casual like sneakers instead of high-heels which is why she never picked anything she knew I wouldn't wear. She called my style the "ultimate Hip-Hop" style, even though I didn't even listen to Hip-Hop at all. "You look just like the dancers in those videos!" she had once said, while she had been looking at me. Smiling because of that memory, I walked back into my room. It was time to do my make-up which usually never took me long since I was kind of a pro at it. My mother had taught me how to do my make-up ever since I had tuned 15, so I was done in about half an hour. I had decided to go with simple winged eyeliner and dark red lips. Felícia did not really approve of it because she thought I could have done a little bit of eye make-up, but for me it looked fine. "What if you meet the love of your life at the club? Don't yon want to look good for him?" she asked following me into the bathroom where I wanted to apply a little bit of hairspray. "Don't you think that the love of my life would love me in every way?" I countered as I put the baseball cap onto my head. She nodded, playfully rolling her eyes at me. My look was finished, when I had put some earrings and a pair of white sneakers on. "Girls! Our Uber's here!", Damon yelled from the hallway. I quickly grabbed my phone, a light jacket and my purse, and then followed him and Felícia.
There was a huge line in front of the club, but Damon knew two of the bouncers which let us walk past all of the waiting people. He used to work at that club, when he had needed some money during his time at college. We had not even fully entered the building, when I already started to feel uncomfortable. There were too many people, trying to get past me and I hated it. I slowly followed Damon who was leading Felícia and me through the crowd. He wanted to say hello to the DJ since he knew him. While he was talking to the DJ, Cia and I headed over to the bar; I definitely needed something to drink, otherwise I wouldn't have lasted one minute in there. We had already ordered our drinks, when Damon came back. "I ordered a Hennessy for you!" Cia yelled over the music. He nodded in response and gave her a sweet smile. They were cute and sometimes I wished that I would one day end up with someone who treated me as good as he treated her. I smiled at them, then I looked over the crowd. Almost everyone was dancing, but there were also people sitting at the couches in the far back of the club. "We're gonna go dance!" Cia informed me, knowing that I was going to stay at the bar.
When my drink was empty, I turned back around to order me another one. I patiently waited for someone to make space at the bar, so could sit down at the counter. "Another Touchdown, please!" I told the bartender who smiled at me. In the corner of my eye, I noticed that somebody had sat down next to me. Since the club was packed, it took some time, until the bartender even started to make my drink. "¡Hola, bonita! ¿Cómo estas?" an incredibly deep voice said from the stool next to me. "Oh, sorry, I don't speak Spanish!" I answered, turning towards the person who had tried to talk to me. A very attractive man with extremely short dark hair, lightly tanned skin, kissable lips and sunglasses over his eyes was staring at me. "I said: Hello, pretty lady. How are you?" he then repeated himself, while giving me an adorable smile. He had a very strong Spanish accent but that me feel even more attracted to him. "I'm good, how about you?" I answered his question. "Good, now that I met you!"
