A/N: This song breaks my heart so much, but at the same time I can't stop listening to it. And can we just take a moment and appreciate the video? Literally, my emotions went wild after seeing it for the first time which is why I was extremely inspired. By the way: thanks for over 1000 reads, it means so much! 💞

One year had passed. The first couple of weeks after the break up, I had locked myself up in my room. Of course, Cia, Damon and Lucas had been there for me, but there hadn't been anything that could've numbed the pain in my chest. I kept thinking that maybe I had overreacted and so many times I had wanted to unblock Benito's number, but a part of me didn't want to. It was Valentine's Day and that meant that Cia and Damon were going to have their date night. After work, I straight went into my room with some Chinese takeaway I had gotten on my way home. My best friend was already in the kitchen, cooking something that smelt like lasagna. Yawning, I placed my food onto my desk, took of my jacket and sat down. Slowly, I started to eat the fried rice, when somebody knocked at my door. "Casey, you should probably see this." I heard Cia say. "What is it?" I asked her. She came into my room with her phone in her hands. "Benito just posted something on Instagram, he hasn't posted anything in about a year." she started. Annoyed, I rolled my eyes at her. I didn't wanna hear what she was about to say. "It's the beginning of a music video." she continued, opening my laptop in front of me. "And why does that concern me?" I asked her, while unlocking the computer for her. "I listened to the song and I'm pretty sure that he wrote it about you." she explained, opening the YouTube app on my laptop. She quickly typed the name of the song into the search box. As soon as Benito appeared on my screen, I tensed up. Honestly, I was staring at the video so much that I didn't really pay attention to the lyrics. "He's obviously getting married in the video, so I doubt that it's about me." I said, crossing my arms over my chest. "No, listen to what he's saying." Cia replied, starting the video again. I had continued to learn Spanish and I had gotten pretty good; at least I could understand a lot of it and that was why I understood almost every single word he was singing. The more I heard, the clearer it got that it was definitely about me. "Wow." was the only thing I could say. "Look, I know how stubborn you are, but obviously he's been miserable without you." Cia said, kneeling down next to me. "First of all, he could've written that song months ago, and second of all, who knows if he really is miserable." I replied, closing my laptop, then turning towards her. "He cancelled all of his shows after the break up, didn't post anything on any social media anymore and didn't go to any awards shows, even when he was nominated. Basically, he disappeared until today and honestly, I don't think it was coincidence that he released the video today." my best friend said, taking my hands into hers. "I'll think about it, Cia." I gave in, sighing. "Okay, Damon's coming over soon. If you wanna join us later, just tell me, yeah?" she then told me, before getting up and walking over to my door. I nodded in response and continued to eat my food.

Half past eleven and I couldn't sleep because I was craving chocolate. We didn't have any left at home, so I quickly grabbed my wallet. I wanted to go to the next store to get me some. Yawning, I walked across the street and into the little shop. Really, that was the best thing about our apartment; a 24/7 grocery store across the street. Politely, I greeted the cashier, when I walked past him. "Peanut butter cup or cookie dough?" I asked myself, looking at the Ben&Jerry's ice-cream in the fridge. While I was trying to decide which one, I heard a familiar voice coming from one of the isles. Then a second familiar voice responded and it wasn't long until I spotted José and Nicky. I quickly grabbed both flavors of ice-cream and tried to sneak past them because I really wasn't in the mood for talking to them. "¿No es Casey por allí?" I heard José whisper. Fuck, no, please. "Casey!" he called my name. I cursed underneath my breath, before turning around to face him. "Hi, José, hi, Nicky." I greeted both of them with a forced smile on my lips. "Long time no see! How have you been?" Nicky asked, putting his hands into the pockets of his jeans. "Alright, I guess. What about you?" I answered truthfully because I wouldn't say that I had been miserable, but also not good. "Quite good. What are you doing here in the middle of the night?" José responded, looking at the two ice-cream boxes in my hands. "Uh, was craving something with chocolate. And you?" I replied, also looking down at my hands. "Yeah, well, uh, just grabbing some snacks." Nicky answered, rubbing the back of his neck. "Oh, okay. I'll get going now." I said, slowly walking away from them. "¿José? ¿Nicky?" I heard a very familiar voice call from the isle they had come from. Panic was probably written all over my face, when I looked at José. Nicky had already went back to the isle, but his friend didn't move at all. "Listen, Casey, take these and come to my show tomorrow. I wanted to put them into your mailbox, that's why we're here." he quickly said, pulling two tickets out of the back pocket of his jeans. I didn't say anything, just stared at the tickets he was holding in his hands. "I can't." I whispered towards him. "Take them and come to the show, please." he insisted. "Why?" I wanted to know. "Do you trust me?" he counter questioned, looking into my eyes. I indeed had trusted José ever since I had met him. I slowly nodded, held both of the ice-cream boxes in one hand and reached out to take the tickets. "Good, oh, and Casey?" he said, before turning around. "Yeah?" I answered, still not moving a single muscle. "He still loves you." he told me, shrugged and then completely turned around. "¿José, vienes?" Benito's voice was closer now and I knew that I had to get out of there as fast as possible, so I snapped out of my trance and turned towards the cashier. "Sí, Benito." I heard José say. "¿Qué pasó?" Benito asked him, when I couldn't see his friend anymore. "Sólo un fan." he answered. I quickly payed and left the store with the hood of my sweater pulled into my face.
