You were panting the entire pursuit. Running wasn't something you've ever been very good at. Especially not around rural areas where you have to literally jump over rocks and avoid orcs. And that was exactly what you were doing right now.
You looked over to your right, and saw Legolas jumping and spinning, killing orcs one after the other. Tauriel shot some orcs down from the riverbank, and you managed to kill a few yourself with your bow and arrow. One of the dwarfs managed to kill some orcs whilst still in his barrel, moving from one side of the river to the other, and when he stopped, he started spinning with his hand sticking out of the barrel. Quite a hilarious sight, you thought.
Suddenly, you found yourself staring at an orc who was not moving out of the way. He seemed more interested in killing you, than he was in killing the dwarfs. He then lashed out with his sword, slicing a piece of your hair off.
That was a mistake.
You could physically feel yourself getting red with anger. You took out your small blade and pierced it right in his eye, took out an arrow and shot in right in his heart, but from such a close angle it went right through his body with the tip sticking out of his back. Good riddance.
''I'm impressed, (y/n)!'' Legolas shouted from across the river. You smirked at him. You could almost see the train of thoughts in Legolas' mind, when he jumped off the bank onto one of the dwarfs' heads. You spat out with laughter as he used them as steps to get to the other side of the river bank, making a spin here and there and firing arrows. He then joined you, running alongside you.
''What did he do?''
''Sliced my hair off.''
''Figured something like that must have happened.'' Legolas laughed
''You would've done the exact same thing if an orc sliced some of your pretty luscious locks off.'' You said while picking up the speed and running towards Tauriel.
You could hear him laughing in the background.
The speed of the water picked up and the dwarfs got a few good feet ahead. The orc pack was slimmed down quite a bit, but was still chasing the dwarfs. You were approaching the borders of the realm, marked by a small waterfall. You saw Legolas slowing down, and you did the same.
''This is as far as we go.'' Legolas said.
You were still panting from the pursuit. You could feel the adrenaline in your body. It had been so long since you had a real, good fight where you could actually use your skills. It felt nice.
Suddenly, you heard a swoosh. Like an... arrow? The both of you turned around and saw Tauriel jumping down from a rock, taking an orc down on his knees and placing a blade against his throat.
''We leave this one alive'' Legolas said swiftly, before Tauriel had a chance to slit his throat. She looked annoyed, but understood.
Some moments later you arrived in the realm, greeted by Thranduil. He had a worried look on his face.
''What happened?'' He asked.
Legolas stepped forward. ''The dwarfs escaped. But we slimmed down the orc pack. Tauriel managed to capture one of them, for interrogation.''
Thranduil looked at the orc and stepped closer.
''Good. Bring it to the cells for now and I will let you know when I have questions for it.'' Emphasizing on the word 'it' making the creature feel like nothing; exactly what Thranduil intended.
Legolas nodded and he took the orc to the cells, followed by Tauriel.
''Did you get hurt?'' He asked, while cupping your face with his hand.
