You woke up to Lura entering your chambers. You openend your eyes and saw her running the bath, adding loads of bubbles. You smiled. Bubble baths were the best ones. Especially the ones that you got here. The smells were amazing, it was as if a flower garden grew in your bathroom. Hundreds, if not thousands of different flowers surrounded you.

You got up from your bed and walked over to Lura. Then you remembered what happened last night. He kissed you. Well, he almost kissed you, if it wasn't for the guard who interrupted. You didn't realize that you stopped in your tracks and you seemed to be daydreaming. Lura noticed.

''My Lady, are you alright?''

You snapped out of it and smiled at Lura.

''Yes! Yes, I'm quite alright. Just daydreaming, that's all.'' You said as you started to undress, hinting for Lura to leave.

She noticed, bowed her head and went into the bedroom. She laid out another dress and then left. As you heard the doors close, you stepped into the bath and let the warmth consume you. After a while you realized you had to attend breakfast and immediately got out of the bath and started to dry off. You put on the dress and decided not to call Lura for you hair, just let it dry naturally. You walked through the halls, remembering the way to the dining hall. When you entered, you were surprised to find yourself alone. No Thranduil, no Legolas. They had to leave last night to fight off the spiders, but surely that wouldn't take that long?  Shit. What if...? No. No, they're not dead. They can't be. They're probably resting or something, not dead.

You sat down in your chair when a guard came up to you.

''My Lady, the King sends his apologies for not being present. He is resting after his return from the woods. He wishes to speak to you after you have finished eating.''

Your heart jumped. You remembered his words. 'I'm sure we can pick up where we left off... later.'

O god, is he actually going to do that? Kiss me? Or maybe even more? Wait, no. Don't think about it too much, (y/n). It'll be alright.

You ate loads of fruits, you felt like you could use some vitamins. After you finished your drink you stood up from your chair and two guards stood beside you. They led you towards the chambers of Thranduil. They stopped in front of some steps leading down. You presumed this was the entrance to his chambers. Hesitantly you walked down. You were welcomed by the smell of lavender, and the warmth of the torches that were lit. It was big, very spacious, and it truly looked royal. Your thoughts were interrupted by the voice of Thranduil.

''(y/n), I am glad to see you.''

He walked towards you and as his face touched the light of the torches, you could see the scratches on his cheeks and forehead. Despite the state of his face, he looked as if he had slept for days. He looked well-rested. The way elves heal is remarkable.

''I assume you got my apologies for not attending breakfast?''

You nodded. ''Did you manage to get rid of the spiders?''

''Yes. They have left our borders and are beyond our reach now.''

He took a few steps forward, stopping inches away from your face.

''I wanted to speak to you because I have a question. Tonight there is to be a grand ball. There will be elves from other realms of Middle-Earth. I want you to be there as well. Get acquainted with the elves, get to know them.''

''You want me to attend the ball? But I'm-''

''Human? Yes. My Lady, if you do not wish to attend the ball, you can tell me.''

You thought about it for a second. Attend the ball, get to know the elves? This scares me. I'm defiantly not a people person, socializing is not my strongest character trait. But if Thranduil wants me to attend, I will.

''Alright, I'll attend the ball. I apologize in advance, talking to people has never been one of my strongest qualities.'' You chuckled.

Thranduil smirked. ''I'm sure you'll be fine, my Lady, for as you can charm many with your beautiful eyes alone.'' He touched your cheek with his thumb. He leaned in and just before he touched your lips, he said;

''Now, where were we?''

You froze and a chill went down your spine. He is going to do it, he is going to kiss me. Am I ready for this?

You didn't have any time to think about it as Thranduil placed his lips onto yours and kissed you, gently. You felt warm on the inside. You returned the kiss and wrapped your arms around his neck. When he pulled away he smiled and turned his back facing you.

''I look forward seeing you tonight.''

You were too shocked to move for a few seconds. ''I look forward seeing you too, my Lord.'' Then, you almost ran up the stairs, through the halls and back to your chambers, slamming the doors shut. You rested your back against the doors and took a deep breath. What. The. Actual. Fuck. You just kissed Thranduil. And you liked it. His lips were soft, he was gentle, and it made you crave for more.

Lura walked out of the bathroom when she saw you.

''(y/n), what happened?'' She looked worried.

''Uhm, I-uhm... I'm invited to the ball, tonight.''

Lura's worried face soon changed into full excitement. ''What? My Lady, this is absolutely amazing! The ball! Do you have any idea how many elves will be there tonight?'' She started running around the room gathering make-up, shoes, accessoires such as tiaras and placed them all on the boudoir.

She clapped her hands in excitement. ''We have to get you ready! There is so much to do, so many dresses to fit, I have no idea which will be the right one, oh (y/n) I-''

''Lura, calm down!'' I laughed. ''It'll be alright, we've got plenty of time.''

She lowered her shoulders and let out a sigh.

''You're right, I'm sorry for being so excited; I've never had the honours of preparing someone for a ball. Forgive me if I find myself lost in what I should do.''

''It's okay, Lura, we'll figure it out together.''

I sat down on the chair in front of the boudoir and let Lura do her thing. My make up was natural; she kept it very light and highlighted my features. My hair was kept down and Lura braided some strands that she pinned behind my head. I tried on so many dresses, I lost count. They were all beautiful in my eyes but Lura shook her head after each dress and said 'It's just not good enough!'. Eventually she made up her mind. It was a blush pink gown with flowers on the skirt. It should suit really well with the way my hair looked, Lura said. You took her word for it.

You stood in front of the mirror and Lura stood behind you, looking over your shoulder.

''My Lady, I think we did a very good job on finding the right dress.'' She suddenly walked over to the boudoir and mumbled; ''I almost forgot...'' She walked back to you and placed a tiara on your head.

''Perfect'' she whispered. ''I think you are ready, my Lady.''

''Thankyou for everything, Lura. I feel confident.'' You turned around to hug her. You pulled away and saw what you thought were...tears? Is she crying? ''Lura, don't cry! You're going to make me cry in a second!''

''O god, just go, (y/n)!'' Lura chuckled and lead you towards the doors. She gave you one last hug and gently pushed you out of the chambers. You were led to the grand hall, the guards stopped in front of the massive doors. You took a deep breath as they openend the door for you.

Hi guys! I'm sorry this update took some time, but I tried to make it a little bit longer! I hope you like it! Happy reading!
