Chapter 5

Cheryl's POV

I was sitting at home waiting for a text from Toni to say she was on her way to pick me so we could go to school. My phone buzzed and I instantly put my attention on it.

Toni❤
Sorry babe. Woke up late, so I'm running a bit late. You should get yourself to school and I'll see you there. I love you xxx

I sighed at the text, but I soon responded.

No worries T.T. I love you too. See you at school. xxx

I went and picked up my car keys and left the house. I got in my car and drove off.

When I was at school, I looked around for Toni, but I couldn't see her. Maybe she wasn't at school yet, I thought. So I decided to leave a text for her.

Hey T.T, I'm at school. Let me know when you get here. xxx

I was curious as to where whe was. Although, she did say she would be late, but there was no harm in checking in.

I was in my first class now. I sat down, waiting to see a certain pink haired serpent walk through the door. I didn't see her. Everyone else came in, but not her. Her seat was empty. I turned around to face Betty.

"Cousin Betty, you haven't seen Toni by chance have you? It's just...She said she'd be late, but I didn't think she'd be this late." I explained.

"No I haven't. Maybe she's sick." Betty suggested.

"Maybe." I said, before turning to face the front of the class.

~a little bit later~

We were half way through the lesson. Still no Toni. I wanted to get my phone out and text her, but I knew the teacher would stop me. The speakers in the classroom made a noise until a voice started to come through. We all recognised it. It was Principal Weatherbee.

"Cheryl Blossom, please come to the reception immediately." He said. I could feel everyone's eyes on me. I just stared in confusion. I got up and put my books in my bag before leaving.

I got to the reception. I went to head to Weatherbee's office.

"Oh...uh...Cheryl. Phone call for you. Mr Topaz, he said his name was." The woman at the desk explained. Toni's grandpa, was he ringing to tell me where Toni was? I walked over to the phone and placed it by me ear.

"Hello, Cheryl. I thought I should call you. It's about Toni." He said.

"Is everything okay?" I asked. He let out a long and deep sigh. I was growing more concerned by the second.

"She was in an accident." My heart dropped.

"What? What happened? What accident? Where is she?" Question after question kept coming out of my mouth.

"She's at the hospital. You might want to come and see her." I could feel the tears gathering in my eyes. All I could think was 'Is she going to be okay?' I ended the call. Without hesitation, I ran out of the school building and headed to my car.

I barged in through the hospital doors and headed to the main desk. I was panicking at this point. I needed to know where my girlfriend was.

"Hello. I'm here to see Ton-" I quickly remembered Toni would probably be checked in under her full name. "Uh...Antoinette Topaz. Can you tell me where she is?" I asked.

"Room 212." The receptionist responded. I raced to the room as quickly as I could. When I reached t, Toni's grandad was sitting outside. He looked up and saw me.

"Cheryl. I'm glad you're here."

"What happened? How is she?"

"She was driving to school on her bike, when she got in to a crash. Her leg is broken. She's bruised. The doctor said she hit her head quite badly, despite wearing her helmet. She's not responding at the moment." He was getting all choked up. "Maybe you should go in and see her."

The tears were collecting. I opened the door to reveal Toni. She was laying on the bed and seemed lifeless. I couldn't take the sight and I just burst in to tears. I sat in the chair beside the bed. I grabbed her hand tighter than ever.

"Oh Toni. Look at you. How could this happen? Everything was perfect. We-we just said I love you. I need you to come back, you hear me. Don't leave me, Toni. I love you. I need you, T.T. I can't lose you. I won't. Not now." I mumbled, my words hardly clear because of my emotions.

"This isn't supposed to happen. We are supposed to be in school, practically falling asleep in history. We shouldn't be here. You don't deserve this." I put my head on her and just cried. I couldn't stop it. The tears just kept flowing. Why do I have to go through more pain? I can't loose anyone else.
