Toni's POV
I had been back in school for a week now. I had been bonding with some serpents again, although my grandad made sure to keep me out of any serpent problems. Cheryl had been great to me. She had helped me re-adjust. We had been getting along great. I had noticed some things though, these looks she would give me. They were almost longing and loving. I started to think she had feelings for me. I was planning on confronting her, but I needed to test my theory first. I didn't want to chance humiliating myself.
I was sitting next to Cheryl in english. We had been talking quietly. We were sat up the back of the class so the teacher probably wouldn't really notice us much.
There it was again. Those looks from her, the hand on my shoulder. I realised my theory must be true, I just hoped I wasn't leading her on. I wasn't looking for a romance, not whilst I was still recovering. Plus, we had some exams and stuff coming up, so I was really focused on those.
The school bell went. I packed up my bag and left the room. Cheryl stayed by my side. I decided that now would be a better time than any to confront her. As we approached her locker, I decided to talk to her.
"Cheryl, I'm sorry to even ask this, and it's probably a no, but do you have feelings for me? Its just, I seem to be picking up on these looks that you give me and stuff. I don't know, maybe my radar is off." I asked.
"Uhh..I...I" She stuttered. She couldn't get her words out. Her face was going slightly red. I thought it were likely that it were a yes.
"Because if you do, I'm not really interested in a relationship at the moment. There's too many other things I need to focus on. I'm flattered, honestly, but I think it would be best that we just stuck to being friends." I explained.
"Umm...okay...sure." She mumbled.
Cheryl's POV
I didn't know how to feel. Toni noticed I had feelings for. I don't know how she noticed. I guess it was just obvious. She is my girlfriend, or at least she was. I don't even know any more.
"Umm...okay...sure." I said.
"Glad we cleared that up." She stated. I knew, no matter what she said, I would still love her. I wasn't going to stop until she had her memories back. It was painful, and I knew there would be more pain to come, but I didn't care. All I wanted was to be able to hold Toni in my arms once more.
