Cheryl's POV

Toni's grandfather brought the doctor over. I stood up. I wanted to ask some questions. I had managed to control the tears.

"So, from what we can tell the amnesia isn't very bad. There are holes here and there in her memory. From what I can see, and from what you have told me, it looks as though she may be struggling to remember the more recent things. The damage to her memories doesn't go very deep. Now this is a good thing. It should be easier for her to remember things." The doctor explained.

"Okay, but how can we get her to remember? Will she remember? What can I do to help her?" I asked, not being able to stop the questions.

"She will be able to remember eventually. We can't say how long it will take. It's different for every patient. I would suggest you show her some photos, anything else you think may help. Just remind her of everything that happened. Not all in one go. That would be too much for her. Do it slowly. Give her time to process." She replied.

"What about school? That could trigger memories. When can she come back?" Veronica joined in.

"Maybe give it a week or two. She needs time to adjust back to life. After all, she has missed out on some time of her life. We need to run a few more tests and then she should be good to go home." The doctor explained.

"Thank you, doctor." Thomas said. She smiled and then walked off. She must have had some other patients to attend to.

"That was a lot to take in." I muttered.

"No kidding, but you heard what she said. She can go home. That's a good thing, right?" Veronica smiled. I think she was trying to cheer me up.

"I guess. I just don't know how I'm going to do it. I mean, she thinks I'm just some random person. A nobody." I was getting upset again. I held it back the best I could.

"I'm sure she will remember soon enough. I know her and I know you. You have both been through so much together. It will come back to her eventually. I'm sure of it." Veronica added.

Toni's POV

I was laying in the hospital bed. I was glad to have seen my grandfather. It was strange. Something felt different. I don't know, almost like something was missing, like a part of me was missing.

It had been a weird couple of hours. That strange redhead girl. She was cute, not going to lie, but she thought she was my girlfriend. Yet, I have never seen her before in my life. I've never had much luck in love anyway.

The doctor said I was unconscious for two weeks. I couldn't believe it. At first, I was overwhelmed with stress. The amount of stuff I had missed in school must be crazy, but more than anything, I was filled with pain. I was given some medication which eased it, but it was still there. My leg was aching. It was in a cast. I was given crutches by the doctor. She said I could go home tomorrow. They had finished the tests, but they just needed to finish some paperwork or whatever. I wasn't really sure.

~next day~

I was in the car with grandad. It was nice to be going home. Something still felt odd though. It still felt like I was missing something or forgetting something. I decided to ignore that feeling and brush it to the side.

"I'm glad to have you back, Toni. I've missed you. We all have." He said.

"It was weird waking up like that. Still feels weird, but the strangest thing was being told I have missed out on two weeks of my life. It's hard to get my head around it." It may not seem like that long, but I knew I had missed a lot.

"Well I'm here for you. Any questions, just ask me." He stated.

"Thanks. Hey, did you see that redhead who was in my hospital room. Who was she?" I asked, genuinely curious.

"She actually goes to your school. She is in a few of your classes I think and heard about the accident. Probably wanted to see if you were okay." Maybe she wasn't my nurse. It was kind of sweet that she wanted to see how I was doing. It made me feel bad for being kind of rude to her yesterday.

"Do I know her? Like was I friends with her?" I questioned.

Grandfather's POV

"Yeah. I'm not sure if you were close, but you were definitely friends with her." I lied. I thought telling her the truth now would be a bit too much for her to handle at once. I had also collected up some pictures of her and Cheryl that I found in her room. I didn't want to overload her with stuff or have her confused. I wanted her to settle back in first.

"It's weird. I didn't seem to recognise her. Guess I better get to know her...again." Toni answered.
