Toni's POV
~The upcoming week~
Today was the day I was least looking forward to. Going back to school. I was so nervous. I had missed so much, but I was on the road to recovery. However it still felt like there was this void in my life. It was weird. My grandpa had told me that I hit my head during the crash, so my memories may be a little bit patchy. I just assumed that's what this void was, my lost memories.
~at school~
I got out of the car. I put my hand on the door, ready to close it and looked at my grandad.
"See ya later!" He said as I closed the door. I simply waved, whilst keeping my balance with my crutches. I knew it was going to be a struggle to go around school today.
I was struggling to open a door, then that redhead from the hospital showed up. She helped me with the door. She held it open so I could pass through.
"Thanks for that." I said.
"No problem." She smiled.
"Oh and...ummm...sorry that I was a bit of an ass at the hospital a while back." I stated.
"It's okay. You were confused." She answered.
"Right. I'm Toni by the way. You're-" I couldn't remember her name. I felt so stupid. She already knew who I was, like grandpa said. It looked as though her face dropped for a moment and her eyes filled with sadness.
"Uh...Cheryl Blossom."
"I have some classes with you, right? It's just that is what my grandpa told me that he knew." I explained. I didn't really know what to say.
"Yeah. We actually do have a few classes together."
"Cool. Anyway, I think I'm gonna head over to my locker." I stated.
I started looking around. Then I thought...where even is my locker? I couldn't remember. Even small details like this, are gone. I think 'confused' was written all over my face because Cheryl seemed to notice. I just shrugged my shoulder slightly, almost losing my balance. Cheryl put an arm out to help me.
"Thanks." I said.
"No problem." Cheryl responded.
Cheryl's POV
She couldn't even remember my name. That felt like a punch to the face. I could understand how she forgot, but it still created pain. Even though she doesn't remember me, I'm still gonna be there for her. I walked down the corridor with her, towards my locker.
"I have some classes with you, right? It's just that is what my grandpa told me that he knew." Toni stated.
"Yeah. Actually, we have a few classes together."
"Cool. Anyway, I think I'm gonna head over to my locker." Toni said. She started to look around, but I noticed she seemed lost. I assumed that she forget where her locker is. Toni lost her balance a little so I put my arm out to help.
"Thanks." Toni smiled.
"No problem." I answered.
"Don't know where your locker is, do you?" I asked, with a gentle tone of voice. Toni shook her head.
"You know, it must have slipped my mind." She chuckled.
"It's close to mine. Here, follow me and I'll show you." I offered to help.
"Thank you, Cheryl." She had picked my name up again. That was something. A small step forward, I thought.
"No problem, T.T." I chuckled. I realised what I actually said. She probably wouldn't remember the nickname.
"T.T?" She asked.
"Yeah. That was my nickname for you before. We were quite close. Sorry...I...I shouldn't have."
"No no no. It's okay. I think it's a cute nick name, Bombshell." For a brief moment, it felt like old times. She used the same nickname she used to have for me. That feeling soon faded. I wanted to say so many things to her, blurt out everything, our entire history together, but it was too risky. It would be too much for her to handle at once. Who would know if it would make things better or worse. It's best that she just adjusts back to everything before getting her memories back.
We approached her locker. I put my hand on it, giving it a tap. I smiled at her.
"Here you go. Mine is just down there." I pointed.
"Okay, cool. Look, Cheryl, I really want us to get back to friends. I may not remember our past, but it doesn't mean we can't still be friends. Does it?" She stated.
"No. Of course it doesn't. I would love for us to be friends...again." In my mind, I knew I wanted more, to be back to how it was. Where I was able to hold her hand and kiss her whenever I wanted. Who knows if that will ever happen again.
