Cheryl's POV
I burst through the door. Veronica and Toni's grandad were still sitting there. They noticed my face was tear-stained.
"What's wrong?" Veronica asked.
"It's Toni. She's- she's awake." I mumbled.
"Then why the hell are you crying?" Veronica said, looking rather confused.
"She-she didn't recognise me. There was something different in her eyes. She thought I was her nurse." I collapsed on the floor. I felt Veronica put her arm on my shoulder. I was almost screaming in pain. I wanted to scream. My girlfriend doesn't remember me. I noticed some footsteps coming in our direction. I looked up slightly. It was a doctor.
"She's awake." Toni's grandfather said, likely thinking I wouldn't be able to talk. I was an emotional wreck. Somehow, I found the strength to get up. I needed some answers.
"She didn't recognise me. Please, just tell me what is wrong with my girlfriend!" I demanded. The doctor looked shocked.
"We'll run some tests to see what damage has been done and what we can repair. Look, I know this is going to be hard for you all, but you need to stay positive." The woman explained.
"How on earth am I supposed to stay positive when my girlfriend doesn't even know who I am?!" I yelled. The doctor stepped back slightly. "Sorry..I...I just don't know how I'm supposed to act. Or react. I can't lose her. Please, just tell me what is wrong with her." I explained, a little bit calmer.
"We will do the best we can. I can assure you Miss uh-" she obviously didn't know my name.
"Blossom. Cheryl Blossom."
"Miss Blossom. We will let you know of anything as soon as we can." The doctor walked in to Toni's room. I looked at Veronica and just pulled her in for a hug.
~later (after Toni had scans and stuff)~
My leg was bouncing on the floor. I couldn't keep still. We were waiting on news from the doctor. Anything. She appeared from a corner and walked over to us.
"So as you know, she was hit pretty hard. Her left leg is broken, she has damage to her arms, but luckily nothing serious to them. We knew this already, but we didn't know how hard she seemed to have hit her head. She has shown all the signs of amnesia. We know she doesn't remember you Cheryl, but in order for us to see how bad this amnesia is, she should maybe see some other people that she should recognise. Perhaps you could go in?" She explained, looking at Toni's grandfather. He nodded.
"Okay, great. Let me know what she says. Anything. Every detail counts. I won't be far, so just come and find me." She explained and smiled. I wanted to go in with Thomas too, but I thought it might make Toni uncomfortable. Our last interaction wasn't great. I decided to let him go alone. Veronica stayed in the waiting area with me. Veronica looked at me.
"I'm so sorry, Cheryl. I'm sure she'll come around."
~couple of minutes later~
Thomas came walking out. I watched as he walked towards me and Veronica. I prayed for him to give some good news.
"She seems to remember who I am. I asked her a bunch of questions. She was unfamiliar with some of the stuff I asked, but she hasn't forgotten everything. So that's a good thing. I'll go and find the doctor." He explained. At least she remembers someone, I thought. But why couldn't she remember me?
Authors note:
Just putting it out there, this may not be medically accurate. So don't come at me if something isn't right. Also, hope you enjoyed. I'm working on a one shot which will hopefully be up today.
