"I can't believe this is my last week," I shook my head in disbelief at my reflection in the mirror as I brushed my hair into place.

"I don't want you to go," Jason appeared behind me, wrapping his arms around me.

I turned around to face him "I don't either, I can't imagine myself anywhere else."

He pulled me tighter and it felt like a goodbye hug, my eyes glassed over.

"I've had the best time with you," Jason whispered, though it was slightly muffled.

"Me too."

Although my days were being counted down the shifts continued as usual, we continued on to breakfast and afterwards Jenny and I headed off to the bumper cars to start our shift.

"How you feeling?" Jenny looked up at me, we were sat in the booth waiting for a line to form.

I shrugged "I'm all over the place, I don't know what's gonna happen between me and Jason after this week."

A sympathetic look came over Jenny's face "How are you guys leaving things?"

"I think we've agreed to just see how it goes. We'll keep messaging and calling, Jason said he'll come visit me at uni the first weekend he can." I told her in a very unconvincing tone, in the back of my mind thoughts were running around about how a long-distance relationship would never work.

"You're always welcome here, Lottie. Anytime, no matter what happens." Jenny's voice held sincerity.

"Thanks," I responded with the same tone "that means a lot to me."

A queue had started to form so I sent Jenny a smile and made my way out the booth to open up the picket gate and let the guests in. The day went by quickly like this, it seemed busier today as the last few days of the summer season attracted more guests to the resort before the holiday came to an end.

Lunchtime rolled around and Jenny and I headed to the canteen, before we reached the doors my phone rung, I frowned, I never got calls unless they were from Jason and he knew where we were meeting for lunch. This was something else.

"Hey, I'll meet you in there, I just gotta take this." I held my phone up to Jenny, signaling the call. She nodded and continued inside.

"Hello?" I answered the phone.

"Hi there, is that Lottie?" a female voice spoke.

"Yes, that's me."

"Hi Lottie, this is Rachel from the recruitment department at Butlins, we received your application for the trainee marketing assistant role and I wanted to have a chat with you regarding the success of your application. Are you available to pop into the offices at all today?"

My eyes widened, I couldn't believe it. The success of my application? What did that mean?

I stumbled over my words with complete surprise "Yes! I'm working today until 5pm but can come after that, thank you!"

"Brilliant, I will email over the details of the location and time and I will see you soon! Goodbye."

"Thank you, goodbye!" I ended the call and looked up at the resort in front of me, I smiled.

A million different thoughts were running through my head, was this good? Did I get shortlisted? Was this an interview? What was going to happen?

I slipped my phone back into my pocket and walked into the canteen, one thought that I had decided on was that I wouldn't tell anyone about this yet, not until after I had met with this Rachel woman.
