"Owch." I groaned whilst opening my eyes, experiencing the banging pain in my head for the first time.

The thin curtains allowed the light to pour through, blinding me as I winced one eye open. After a lot of blinking, my sight readjusted. Where was I? This couldn't have been my room, I hadn't made my bed or set any of my belongings up, in fact, I couldn't even remember being given my keys or ever seeing my own room. My eyes darted around the room, the interior had a heavy male aesthetic to it.

Oh god.

I turned my head slowly to the right, noticing a presence next to me. Oh shit. Jason? What had happened last night after the helter-skelter? I racked my brain and came up empty. I lightly peeled the duvet off me, sighing in relief after realizing I was fully clothed and got up whilst trying to not make a sound.

"Off so soon?" Crap.

I felt my body cringe as I turned to look him in the eye.

"Err, yeah, I have to, you know, get myself familiar with the resort before my shift tomorrow." Good thinking Lottie.

"We did most of that last night, don't you remember." Jason began laughing.

I shook my head and racked my brain. I couldn't remember anything past being at the top of the helter-skelter, I thought I'd passed out after that but then how did I get here?

"Wow, you really were wasted last night, weren't you?" He smirked.

"Oh, shut up!" I grabbed the nearest pillow to me and threw it at him.

He caught it. God damn it.

"Maybe I had a drink or two." He rolled his eyes at my comment.

"Or six or seven." He threw the pillow back at me. I didn't manage to catch it.

"Okay, okay!" I laughed and sunk back down on the bed, sitting next to him.

"How did I end up back here?" I looked around his room properly, a TV and PS4 were set up on a wooden desk, a wardrobe stood in the corner and there was a door in the other corner of the room, I assume this led to a bathroom. It looked like a University halls layout, only swankier.

"I'm not surprised you don't remember. After your one or two drinks, we left the helter-skelter and I showed you around the fairground, well the staff areas and new additions you didn't already know about, but I guess that was pretty useless seeing as you don't remember." He gave me a cheeky look.

I shrugged in apology.

"Wait, so if you don't remember that, you wouldn't remember the whole Luke situation?" My eyes shot open at Jason's question, and he looked like he was trying to keep a hysterical laugh in.

"What Luke situation?" My voice raised before I could control it.

Jason didn't manage to keep his laugh in after that.

"Playing it cool I see." He winked jokingly.

I rolled my eyes and signaled for him to explain.

"When we came down from the Helter Skelter, Luke was standing at the entrance waiting for us, or you. He said the party had died down and wanted to hang out with us, he came with us to show you round the fairground." He paused "Jeez, Lottie, how do you not remember that? We were there for like an hour before Emily showed up, you must be such a light weight!" Jason's eyes met mine and he shook his head at me.

"Wait, pause. Emily showed up?" I was confused, why would she show up to hang out with us three if she didn't like me?

"Oh, this is going to be good!" Jason rubbed his hands together in preparation. I rolled my eyes again.

"Emily overheard Luke talking about you to the other guys, saying how nice you are and blah blah blah, how he likes you and blah blah blah-"

"Luke likes me?" I quickly interrupted his speech. This was major news.

"You really need to play it cooler." He raised a single eyebrow at me.

Jason sighed and continued his story "Emily came storming up to us, looking for Luke. They started having a massive argument over what they were, and what they are and why Luke had been so interested in you when they hadn't talked about whatever happened last season. Then you decided to get involved, asking why you and Luke weren't allowed to be a thing because of her, it was all a bit messy."

"What?" My mouth hung open, I had a full-on argument with Emily? And Luke came looking for me?" I smiled internally. My face flushed red, realizing how cringeworthy drunk me must have been asking about me and Luke in front of him. Oh god.

"Yeah, I reckon today's gonna be a bit awkward." He patted me on the back.

My head fell into my hands.

"To be fair, I don't think you've made any losses, Emily didn't like you anyway." Jason shrugged.

"Thanks so much, Jason!" I turned around to give him a dirty look.

"C'mon, it's true!" He said in defense, I mean he wasn't lying.

I groaned. How was I going to face Emily today, let alone Luke? Did he like me? Was I overthinking this? If he and Emily got into an argument over me that meant something, surely? My head was spinning with everything I had been given to think about, or it could have been the hangover.

"Maybe you should go back to your room and...freshen up?" Jason looked me up and down with disgust.

"Alright, jeez!" I got up and found my phone on the bedside table, I looked in the reflection and gasped.

"Okay, maybe you're right. Where's my room?" I looked back to Jason expectantly.

He rolled his eyes "I'm the backbone of this resort, honestly!" He ripped the duvet off him, wearing the T-shirt from last night and a pair of pyjama trousers. Phew.

"Turn around!" He pointed to me.

I turned.

"Done!"

I turned back and he was wearing a pair of jeans. Since when was he part of a quick-change act?

"Let's go!" He opened one of the draws in his bedside table and got out a set of keys.

"Are those mine?" I frowned.

"As I said, I'm the backbone of this resort." Hewalked out the door and I followed, grabbing my phone on the way out.
