[name] was glad she sat in the farthest seat in the back. so far, no one's seemed to have noticed the unsightly bandages decorating her hands. though they have become a pain to deal with right now.
the classes were as boring as ever. she didn't even bother to take notes or listen to the lecture. she'd already studied the lessons before.
the curriculum she'd hoped to pursue was a whole two years ahead of the normal high school students'. so when it comes to academics, she's good to go until third year.
that doesn't make attending classes any fun, though. she doesn't use her phone because it's disrespectful to the teacher-i mean, they're just doing their jobs. but she doesn't really have anything to keep her busy as well.
[name] stares at the pencil standing upright on her desk. she had been using her quirk to use everyday objects since she couldn't use her right hand from the burns. a touch of the pencil with the fingertips of her left hand, and it was good to go.
the amount of nothing she was doing was wrecking her mind. at this point, she was glaring at the blank paper in front of her.
the pencil started to move by itself drawing random and messy scribbles on the blank paper as she slumped herself on her chair, crossing her arms in defeat.
the frustration of doing absolutely nothing drove her crazy and her thoughts just translated itself onto the pencil she was holding with her quirk, though she didn't mean to.
"that's a waste of paper."
the scribbling stopped and the pencil dropped as [name] was distracted from her thoughts. she looks to her right and it was todoroki who spoke, but his attention was now back to the teacher in front.
"sorry, eco-man. it's just frustrating when you feel like you're repeating a year in class," [name] sighs. "i feel stupid, taking all of these lessons again."
todoroki looks at the girl in confusion. "you already took.. advanced geometry?"
[name] scoffs. "yeah, like two years ago." she realizes that she's not actually known the same way she is in america. in japan, as of then, she was only a regular high school student. which explained why todoroki was looking at her funny.
"i'm 'gifted.' that's what they call it anyway," she explains, making air quotes with her fingers. "i'm not trying to brag or anything but i'm already done with high school education in terms of academics. the syllabus in my middle school is advanced and i skipped a year or two."
"oh," todoroki responds. he listened and understood what she said but his eyes were focused on the bandages on her hands. he was trying to recall if those were there yesterday as well.
he decides that it wasn't there yesterday and asks, "what happened to your hands?"
[name] wonders why he asked but recalls the fire-induced injuries she had acquired yesterday as she looked at her hands.
she hides her hands under her desk after remembering. so much for keeping them unnoticed.
"nothing. just some training injuries," she says, brushing the topic off. "you know, occupational hazard," she jokes.
"alright," todoroki responds, leaving her be and returning his attention to the lesson. but he knew all too well what a burn looked like, and the patches of her hands uncovered by her sort of sloppy bandage work told him that she had a fire injury which she got just yesterday.
or he could be just prying. it was probably just a minor accident or something.
or maybe not.
