chapter seventeen

"[name]! you're finally back! took you a while to recover. didn't take you for the school-ditching type. how was the usj villain attack?"

[name] smiles. she missed the purple-haired boy. "good to see you too, shinsou. but what do you mean? i literally recovered from four different physical injuries in less than a week. why? how fast do you recover from bruised and/or broken bones?" she jokes.

"oh, shit it was that bad? i mean since the rest of 1-A seemed to be alright two days after, i was just surprised to see you absent," he says.

"ah, midoriya and i were the only the actual students that got injured, i heard. and he got fixed up immediately by recovery girl since he just broke a few bones. my stuff was more internal with my organs and stuff so they sent me to the hospital and i was knocked out for a couple of days," [name] explains.

"well, i hope you're recovered enough for the sports festival in two weeks," shinsou says. his voice was excited. "you know they said that it's possible that general studies students be transferred to the hero course?"

"then that's your chance!" her eyes shining as she responded.

shinsou confidently smiles. "i know, the opportunity i've been waiting for."

riko-sensei bursts in the library.

"[naaaame]-chaaaan!!" her loud, high-pitched voice echoes in the near-empty library. "i heard about what happened in the staff room!!! i'm so glad you're okaaaay!!!!" she exaggeratedly cries, clutching onto the student.

"we were worried sick after hearing the incident! it's great that you recovered so quickly!! the competition is two weeks after all!" she happily announces.

[name] and shinsou look at each other in determination after remembering why they even met in the first place.

"looking forward to compete with you, shinsou-kun."

"todoroki-kun, do you know what everyone rambling on about at the front?"

it was just after fourth period and lunch time was starting. everyone usually immediately ran off to the cafeteria but there seemed to be a topic of interest circulating about before they left together.

todoroki, the one sitting closest to [name], was keeping his stuff getting ready to leave and get food.

"ah, they're all talking about the sports festival in three weeks. everyone's pretty excited," he replies.

"oh, the sports festival, huh?" she says, leaning back on her chair. "alright, thanks."

"you don't sound very eager," the boy comments.

"yeah, i'm not that into being watched sparring like a dogfight," she states. both watching and being watched, it wasn't very interesting, she thought. "and i have a different thing next week."

"it's just something to get the get you in the spotlight, upstart your hero career," todoroki answers.

"pfft, right," [name] scoffs. "me? want attention on my being a hero? no thanks."

"that's pretty weird. most people would usually want to be recognized but to each their own i guess," he says before asking, "aren't you gonna go out and have lunch?"

"nah, i don't wanna eat today," the girl says before shooing him off to get lunch of his own.

hm, there it is again. the feeling of familiarity bubbling in my chest.
