the flight to california was unsettling. while [name] was ecstatic to be back, she wasn't sure if she really wanted to see her family. she didn't want to see the disappointed looks her mother would send her way every once in a while, just like she did when she first said that she didn't want to go to ua.

it was unnerving. she was squirming in her seat.

"are you alright, young miss?"

she breaks out of her nervous trance to look up and see the butler. "would you like anything? water, juice?" he asks.

"some ginger ale would be great, thanks," she responds to which he nods and immediately sets off to retrieve.

she didn't want to see her mother. but she couldn't disappoint kousuke after all he's done for her.

when she boarded the jet, she didn't even feel a touch of anxiety. but after waking up from her eight and a half hour sleep, she realized, with half an hour left in the flight, god, she didn't want to do this.

deep breaths, [name]. it's just a little bit of anxiety.

breathe in, breathe out.

if she put her brain on autopilot, this weekend will iust breeze by.

right?

---

"welcome back, miss [name]!" the househelpers she passes by would greet. she only nods lightly as response. she's led up to her room, the room she missed oh so much.

she jumped onto her bed, burying herself in the large fluffy comforter and the scent of home that she missed. if only she could stay like this forever.

knock knock

"knock knock," the voice says whilst knocking, redundantly. "how was your flight?"

she turns to see her brother with a stupid grin on his face. "fine. you're awfully cheery, what happened?"

"nothing! i'm just glad to see you!" he says.

[name] furrows her eyebrows in suspicion. "okay, what did you do?" she says with a stern tone, sitting up on her bed.

he walks to her bed, closing the door halfway and sits on the ottoman at the foot of her bed. "okay, so i'm pretty sure that you don't want to spend your internship in the family agency, right?"

[name] answers, "kind of, i guess? i don't mind but i'd rather not. go on."

"since you won't be able to show off in the sports festival, i contacted some of my friends to scout you in the internship, you know, if they want to. so you have more choices on where to go," he says, oozing excitement like a puppy.

"oh. that's actually really nice," [name] responds. "thanks."

"of course! only the best of the best, for my sister," he says proudly.

he stands up and places his hand on her head.

"so, let's have lunch later and after, you need to get your dress fitted."

[name] groans, "i fucking knew it."

...

the dress was... not half bad. it's not as uncomfortable as it looked and she likes the way the cloth falls on her figure.

it was an off-shoulder dark maroon velvet evening gown. it was fitted with a large necklace and diamond earrings.

"now those, of course, aren't the actual necklace and earrings you'll be wearing," her brother says. he brings out a large necklace box and opens it to show a diamond necklace with a teardrop shaped pendant and matching earrings corresponding with the color of her dress. "you'll be wearing this before it gets auctioned off in the end of the evening. the proceeds will go to the charity," he explains.
