chapter forty-one

"ah, i'm so excited to go back to work~."

[name] sat quietly in the backseat of a car with her brother. it was three days before class started again. she was being chauffeured to the airport, and her brother to his office. she stared longingly at the window.

kousuke flicks the side of her head. "hey, you're so spacey today. are you sure you're fine travelling alone? i can come with you, you know."

[name] shakes her head, a little annoyed at him, but she knows he means well. "nah, it's okay. just tired."

"hemingway told me he's arranged for your stuff to be sent to UA. but you should swing by the place and pick up the rest of your things before moving in." hemingway was the majordomo of their bel air estate. he's served the family for many generations, and him and his family has been considered part of their family for a long time.

[name] hums in acknowledgement. "i don't care for the dorms," she comments. "wish i could just stay in my old place."

"it's for the best. i'm sure it'll be fun."

"[name]-chan!"

yuuka's high pitched voice enters [name]'s ears as she entered the café. she's greeted with a tight hug as yuuka cheered, "it's been so long! i was so worried when i saw the news about your school, and with you not showing up for weeks, i was so concerned!"

[name] gives an an awkward laugh, "aha, sorry. i should've sent you a text."

yuuka ushered her to her usual seat and head off to bring her some refreshments. while [name] was grateful for the fact that she made quite a few friends in the past five months, it sure was a pain to keep tabs on all of them. she doesn't know how kousuke does it.

seconds after she sat down, she's met with the striking turquoise eyes of touya who takes place in front of her. it sent a pang to her chest. she nearly cried at the sight of him sitting in dabi's usual spot. now that she knew what his name really meant, it affected her a whole lot more than it was supposed to.

after yuuka gave her a drink, she started pouring her heart out to the feline as it moved to her lap. she caressed his fur with her wrist, like dabi used to do, and held back tears as she spoke.

"stupid dabi becoming a stupid villain," she murmurs. "you know he won't be back here anytime soon, right touya?"

touya looks up at her with an unknowing look on his face. ignorance was bliss, but a little part of [name] felt that he understood that she was upset because he began rubbing his face on her hand. she laughed as she wiped the tear that pooled in her eye with her other hand before it could drip down.

it was going to be difficult to adjust, to find her new normal in japan. it had consisted of her, dabi, touya, then her friends the past several months. but now she has to make do without him.

the class gathered in front of their dorm building with aizawa. some of the students cheered at the sight of the large dormitory. though it was nothing compared to [name]'s previous residences, it was certainly grand for a dorm.

iida shushes the class as their teacher began to speak.

"now then.. class 1-A, i'm glad to see you all here," he says, though it didn't really seem like he meant it with the tired look in his eyes. the others murmured in response to his comment, talking about the events after the training camp.

[name] felt out of the loop.

"anyway, i'm gonna give you a quick overview of your dorms," aizawa continues. "but before that.."
