Chapter 17- Where is Home?

Everyone ran into Zens room and smiled. I was still laying in Zens bed. I got up and sat down in a chair, waiting for everyone to say hello. The greets were interrupted when the doctor walked in, "Welcome back Zen, glad to see you awake. You will be able to go later this week." the doctor said. He then saw James and smiled "You are looking very well James. I was just about to tell you that you are released. Just be careful that nothing happens to your burns and keep putting the medication on it." the doctor said. James nodded and Nicole told the doctor that she was already gonna be on him making sure he puts them on every 5 hours. The doctor smiled, nodded and left the room. Everyone kept talking to Zen and each other. Turns out Zen couldn't get out of the house because when he opened his bedroom door, the door frame collapsed, landing on his leg. He wasn't able to get up and ended up fainting. That is all he remembered he said. Then James pipped in, telling how he ran through the flames and nearly passed out when he saw Zens leg. He described it as burnt, with lots of blood. "I think I almost fainted," James said. "No that is probably because your dumbass decided to go into a burning house where there is a tone of smoke," Nicole said, lightly punching his shoulder. James grabbed it and started to hold it, pretending he was hurt. It worked and Nicole started to hug him, kissing his face apologizing to him. When she wasn't looking he flashed a thumbs up to us as if to say Oh yeah, works like a charm. We all burst out laughing, except for Nicole who was looking around the room at all of our faces with a confused expression "What is so funny?" she asked, obviously confused. We laughed again and I let out a snort which made everyone fall to the ground, crying. 

3 days later, we were packing up all of our stuff into the car. I walked next to Zen carrying his stuff since he was on crutches. We reached the car and I helped him get into the front seat, holding his crutches. I then put his crutches in the backseat on top of my lap. AJ, Kanna, Nicole, and Kate took a car and went home. Blake and James had gone back to the hotel and was grabbing all of the rest of the stuff that we either bought or wasn't damaged by the fire. Ash and I weren't as affected since most of our clothes were at our dad's house. Ash drove to our dad's house and I jumped out of the car. I closed the door and Zen yelled my name. I turned around and walked backed to Zen. "Be careful please," he said with a smooth tone. I nodded and he gave me a quick kiss. I ran up the steps of our front porch and grabbed the spare key that was hidden in a candle. I unlocked the front door and tiptoed in. I didn't hear anything until I heard a moan. I threw up a little in my mouth. I swallowed it back down and then went to my room and started shoving clothes and toiletries into a duffle bag. I then went to Ash's room and did the same as well as the bathroom. I then ran to the kitchen and grabbed any searched the fridge for any food, but it was mostly beer and if I did find food, it was rotten. I stood up and hit my head on the fridge door. I let out a yelp and heard the bedroom door open. I ran out the front door, grabbing all of the bags, stuffed them in the car. I sat back in my seat breathing heavily. Zen looked back at me and smiled. His smile turned into a frown very quickly. I looked at him, confused. I touched my head to see blood dripping from my hand. I groaned and got a napkin from Ash and held it to my head. Ash put in the address to Zens parents house and we started to drive there. By the time we got there, the bleeding had stopped and I wasn't in any pain. We pulled up to a gated gate. The security guard in the booth started to say "Na-Hey Zen! Haven't seen you in forever! You have grown man!" the guard said smiling. He let us through and we drove up a path for 2 minutes. Finally, the trees were out of the way and when I saw Zens house I was in shock.
