kiara - 1 month later

with all the intricate planning involved for this wedding my head has been spinning since the early hours of the day.

i've dreamt of a summer wedding in some field, where only my family and close friends could gather to celebrate my big day.

and with july coming to an end soon, grayson and i had to move quickly with the planning. the ceremony was planned for august seventeenth, and today was july nineteenth. so we had almost a month left for anymore planning that should take place.

"i sent out most of the invitations last night, gray, so we should be receiving rsvp's soon," i sigh, my forehead resting in the palms of my hands.

i feel his presence behind me from where i'm sat at the kitchen table, poised over my laptop. his big, strong hands find their way to my shoulders and he rubs them, massaging up to my neck and then back down to my shoulder blades.

i lean my head back and he kisses my lips, upside down. "i love you."

he pulls away just enough to mumble the words right back to me. "i love you more."

he kisses me again and i pull away to ask him the question that's been planted in the deep depths of the back of my mind all day.

i clear my throat. "should i invite tana?"

grayson's eyes narrow. "why are you even considering it?"

"because, grayson," i start, shrugging my shoulders. i, myself, don't know the answer to his question.

"because what?" he asks almost as if he's doubting my ability to just hit the send button.

"because she kept my secret! she kept it even though she had every right to spill every little detail about my plan, grayson," i burst, the words unwillingly flow out of my mouth.

in one swift movement he rotates my chair one hundred eighty degrees and places each of his hands on each of my thighs as he bends down. his rippled abdomen and broad shoulders seem to distract me but i snap out of it quickly.

"if you want to invite her, just invite her, but i want you to ask yourself one thing," he pauses and i nod my head. "how do you think your parents found you?"

and with that he stands up and walks away towards bailey's nursery. his question leaves my head spinning a mile a minute. it's a valid question, though, which is why i contemplate my answer options.

did she actually tell my parents where i was? or did they just do more digging into the secret life of their own daughter?

wait—grayson and i's video explaining our relationship. we both said we moved to california. shit.

that's most definitely how my parents had to of found me, right?

my curiosity digs a hole so deep inside me that i spin my chair back around and grab my phone from beside my laptop. immediately unlocking it, i go to my settings and search for her number under the extensive list that i had proceeded to block.

tana blake. i unblock her number and then warily check my surroundings, making sure grayson isn't snooping around.

after being certain, i quickly shoot her a text; nothing too exaggerated but simple.

  hey, could we talk?

  "momma?"

my head shoots up and i calmly, but quickly, slap my phone down on the table. there grayson stands with bailey's little hand wrapped around his finger as she walks.

"hi, baby," i say standing up and walking towards her.

she outstretches her arms and i immediately scoop her up, brushing her wavy, dark brown hair back.

bailey will be one soon and grayson is excited to say the least.

her hand is still latched onto grayson's finger so he has to get close to me so i can hold her.

i kiss her forehead and her free arm wraps around the back of my neck. and when she finally let's go of grayson, it is to point at the rather large stone that sits on my left ring finger.

she is constantly grabbing at it, almost obsessed with it more than i am.

grayson grabs my hips bringing my body closer to him as bailey gets a little squished between us. he pecks her forehead then my cheek.

"we're gonna be one happy family," he cheers softly.

my cheeks hurt from smiling as his lips slowly connect with mine.

my fingertips are poised over the laptop mouse pad, the curser sat on the button labeled send.

bailey climbs onto my lap with a little help from me and makes herself comfortable. i rake my fingers through her curls that seem to never stop growing.

"where's daddy?" i ask her and she stares up at me.

"i didn't expect you to answer," i mumble to myself, letting out a chuckle when her eyes keep searching my face.

i've been sitting at the table for about a half an hour just staring at my screen.

the front door opens to my house and i jump, my finger making just enough contact with the sensitive mouse pad that it sends the invitation.

"hey, kiara," ethan's voice shouts as he walks past me and into the living room.

"damnit, ethan!" i curse, standing up and bringing bailey with me.

i balance her on my hip as i walk towards the living room.

grayson is sat on the sofa, his feet kicked up on the coffee table in front of him. ethan is sprawled on the recliner, his arm tucked behind his head.

"what's your deal?" grayson questions, his eyebrows perking up.

"your dumbass brother scared the shit out of me and i hit send on tana's invitation," i complain, my voice growing louder with each word.

grayson stands up and takes bailey from my arms, making a face at me and covering her ears due to all the cursing i just said in front of her.

ethan laughs from his spot in the chair. "oops, sorry."

and then he blinks a couple of times. "wait, you invited tana?"

i nod my head, "yeah..."

"as in tana blake?" he repeats.

"yes, ethan, what the hell is your deal?"

"nothing, nothing," he shrugs his shoulders acting as if he didn't just make a big deal out of it.

"whatever. let's just hope it wasn't her who told my parents where i was," i sigh, walking out of the living room.
