i shut off my phone and tossed it onto the empty bed beside me. joe, who was unpacking his hefty suitcase, glanced up at me. "everything okay?"

i turned around, fidgeting with my hands as i shrugged. "fine."

joe stood up from where he was crouched on the floor. he wrapped his long arms around my waist, pressing me firmly to his chest. "you sure?"

i squeezed his forearm, my smile comforting to a pouted lip. "can we tell them?"

joe grinned and dipped his head to kiss me softly, "i've only been waiting six months."
