Abdulmaleek finally packed all his personal belongings from the office, an office he owned even before he could walk up until the time he could work. Everyone watched as he took the first box to the back seat of his car, one of the office security guards followed him back up to help "why you just dey stress yourself oga, someone fit carry that one for you na" the man said.
Abdulmaleek smiled "I am no longer your boss Moosa, you don't even have to call me sir"
Moosa looked sadly at Abdulmaleek "ah Oga! After you na you again ooo, abeg no leave oga"
Abdulmaleek made a hallow laugh "ah no wahala Moosa, if you can lend me 2 billion wollah I will stay o"
Moosa put both his hands on his head "Chineke! Oga?? Even my head no reach that amount sir, ahhh in fact, iffa get 9 lives sef e still no fit reach that kin money"
Abdulmaleek laughed, this time with more sincerity, Moosa was always his favorite, he admired the man's hard work and dedication, but most importantly his sense of humor.
Moosa took the boxes out, one of Abdulmaleek's most loyal employee came into the office. "Morning Sir, I called to tell you I would be late but Nnena told me you were leaving, I don't understand Sir"
Kafayat was Abdulmaleek's chief of staff, she handles most of the dirty work when it comes to worker dissatisfaction, and making sure everyone does his job, kafayat, a 30 year old Yoruba lady from lagos. Kafayat was also well known as Abdulmaleek's attack dog, she does all the dirty work, whenever anyone with high rank in the office was getting fired, or suspended, the last face they see is Kafayat's, after her face comes the exit. She and Abdulmaleek took B.D farms to it's glory, at first they hated each other, but soon after Abdulmaleek learned of her talent and skills they became best office mates.
"Well my wife's grandfather fired me, so out I go"
"Ah no!! He can't do that, why are you allowing this? You and I worked day in day out to make this place as it is now, now you just want to leave without a fight, everybody out there right now is worried, nobody knows what it means for their job.. I AM WORRIED. This is your birthright oo""I don't have energy to fight Wallahi"
"Nawao!!!" Kafayat clapped, disappointment was written on her face boldly "You rich spoilt brats, very lazy people. You don't know how to work for anything in your life. Always feeling entitled, like the world owes you something. You can't work for anything, with your wowo fine face, na fine face person go carry chop?"
"Iyyeh! Ni kike wa magan haka{Is it me you're talking to like that?} ah lalle you have grown wings"
She shrugged "ehn so what? You're not my boss anymore apparently, so.. but I would have thought you were better than quitting" she stood out to leave, angry, disappointed, and frustrated. "If you can't tell already I'm very disappointed in you"
"Listen..." he called but she ignored him and left the office. He was always ambitious, even had dreams of becoming one of Nigeria's top 3 richest people, all from agricultural and poultry. What happened to those dreams? He was always a cheerful person, always smiling, but most importantly generous and accommodating, this made him even more loved in his office, and why people didn't like Kafayat because she was the capitalist, he needed her to keep him on point.
Those beautiful smiles now just cease to exist, even when he made them they looked dead. Was it losing his means of livelihood, or was it Tahira and Ajeay that were bringing him more grief.
Life had changed so fast for Abdulmaleek, one moment he was the man who had everything in a gold platter, the next he lost everything in the blink of an eye. He couldn't trust his friends, he gradually started distancing himself from them, becoming more reserved, keeping more to himself, we have Ajeay to thank for that particular lesson.
